RE:”Number 4 is that it was a dog and pony show and when the uni-party brings him a bill he’ll reject it just like he did with DACA.”

That was #1:”He doesn’t really mean it”

Don’t blame Ivanka. Trump has a long any-gun history.

” mean she is supposedly buddies with chelsea so that alone should bring into question her judgement.”

They are ALL friends. Theresa Heinz owns the house in his front yard, and they are close family friends going back a generation or two.

Trump says he gave to the Clintons because “that’s how you do things in NYC” but he never gave to the local color in other cities to get himself a seat at the table.

He is friends with these people. Plain and simple. Always has been and I’ve been saying it since day 1 of the republican debates.

That said, he is still a strong candidate and I said that all he had to do - if nothing else - is get one of ours on the Supreme court bench. That was done and now we’re ... pretty much ... safe.

“It would have been better to error on the side of safety, than to wait for weeks or months to go thru the court system.”

You really want to allow the same people who manipulated information to get illegal surveillance warrants from the FISA Court to be able to declare “it’s for the chilllruns” to bypass Constitutional guarantees??? As another poster pointed out in response to you, the system had everything needed to deal with this shooter before anything happened and CHOSE NOT TO use the established processes.

We have been had....again. Bush got us back then when he pretended to be conservative (the day he stood on the pile of rubble and proclaimed Islam a religion of peace was the moment he showed his true colors) and Trump just showed us who he really is (His pile of debris).

All conservatives need to figure out what we're to do next now that our leader has turned against us.

We can't let them tear us apart. If we go then there is no hope for the United States of America.

There was a bunch of us that kept thinking that surely he (Bush 2) was on our side but playing 3d chess. We got 8 years of Obama for that trip down elitist lane.

And let me tell you about his daughter and Chelsea. They (the elites) are all intermingled. They go to the same Country Clubs. They marry within their clique and more than often they marry kin to keep their blood all in the same families.

I had hoped that Donald was truly on our side and I kept hearing these mumblings of him making us look like fools and now I realize that it's true. We've been had......again

“I’m getting real tired of this “rope-a-dope” and “4D chess” bullshit explanation/defense for everything Trump’s doing.“

I think I am, too. I’ve really been trying to be patient and understanding, but his words about guns is pushing me off his plantation. If our politics has to be this much sleight of hand, it is not good and it is not ours.

Time for US to once again control our government. Whatever that takes. Now.

Just my 2 cents...

Trump held the meeting, not for members of Congress or members of the NRA, but for public consumption.

I believe this is why so many here are worried.

This was done to counter the public narrative that he is in the pocket or controlled by the NRA, that he doesn’t listen, that he isn’t interested in fixing the problems that lead to student death.

It was a tour-de-force of a leadership photoshoot, done in real time video, unlimited access by the press, who had to film and report it.

He was caring, concerned, passionate, a Leader of the leaders of Congress, listening, modeling what it means to be reasonable and involved and committed to fixing the things no one else before him fixed.

He has done this with parents of victims, governors, etc.

That is all.

Something bad passes? Like the biggest budget in history? More than the Democrats could ever have dreamed of?

Well put, and dead on correct. The Ivanka Jared leftie condo mentality is at work. Urban crapola that denies a majority of Americans of their right to self-defense and government counter defense by the very lefties who want us to NEVER have the ability to question their totalitarianism.

National Reciprocity would GUARANTEE Trump the win in 2020, and in advance of 2018 House and Senate— guarantee any candidate who supports it— a seat.

The due process comment indicated a complete “I can order anything I want, just like when Im at one of our clubs”. No way, Jose. And no- there was no “context”. Whom does anyone here think is “advising” Trump on gun ownership or the “need to have” bullcrap? It’s that freaking Ivanka and her condo ((boy)) Jared. There is a lot of crap going on in that WH that is not under Trump’s control, obviously.

Are you of the opinion if he cut the budget and was fiscally responsible that we would avoid the collapse of everything?

That Trump did that tells me he knows the fiscal situation is FUBAR, so he will keep it afloat now, and not tank the economy today, to buy a few more days of this drawn out, stagnating degradation later. I’d have done the exact same thing, and I am as small government as they come.

We can be like Rome, with a never-ending slow decline followed by a slow-landing dissolution we never recover from, or go full speed on the economy and tech advance, let the collapse be brutal when it hits, and have it only last a decade or so before we pick back up.

Trump, being a rich city boy with bodyguards, never really understood the Second Amendment in the first place.

Trump has been a concealed carrier for decades.

I'm not sure what that scary clown show was all about, but Trump understands the 2nd Amendment.

Which ones is he backing away from specifically?

[[Sounds ominous,]]

That’s because it is ominous and not how due process works- if the person is seen as a danger, then steps begin to have them declared ineligible to own guns- then and only then are guns taken from them if found dangerous- We don’t confiscate first, then hope a court deems them unfit- that is a violation of rights

Get ready for the same old he is playing 5 D Chess BS by many who don't listen. I called my Rep Office and they did not like what Trump said .
They responded with , He has not changed anyones
mind here .
Sadly. He made a direct attack on the NRA
He directly attacked 18-21 right to even have a hunting rifle .

His NYC elite attitude was on full display .

Call the WH and the House Reps folks .

Stop the Trumps gun grab .

He will destroy the 2018 midterms at this rate .

Then why is he taking a verbal dump on it?

Diarrhea mouth better take some Imodium before he loses a critical part of his base. He is now on the watch list. Sad if he is a turncoat.

Then why is he taking a verbal dump on it?

This is the same trick Trump pulled on the Dems with DACA. As with jujitsu, he's using his opponent's weight and momentum against them.

The Dems will rush forward with all of their anti-gun wet dreams, all rolled into one, and Trump will step aside and watch them sail over the cliff.

I think it's a classic bait and switch.
