5. Old Man Yells At Cloud...Sen. Chuck Grassley ratcheted up Trump’s rant against violence in movies a notch, or twelve.

6. Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s Face... Feinstein leapt for joy all throughout the meeting. At one point, she appears to have jumped several inches up from her seat and affectionately jabbed President Trump with her right arm.

Yeah, yeah, I know: "Trump is playing 4-D chess...he's laying a trap for the democrats to defend due process by attacking the constitution....he wasn't really insulting the NRA....he's throwing away national reciprocity so he can negotiate it after 2020....blah...blah..."

Wake up, people.

If there's a plan here, it's Ivanka's. She got to him, probably in an effort to distract us from Jared's latest mess and Trump, being a rich city boy with bodyguards, never really understood the Second Amendment in the first place.

Always been concerned about her influence on Dad. I mean she is supposedly buddies with chelsea so that alone should bring into question her judgement.

Unilaterally banning bump stocks via executive order is unconstitutional and it sure as heck isn’t 4D chess.

I thought of this as well.

With all the bump-stock chat on MSNBC, you’d start to think that there are 60-million bump-stocks out there.

I’m a big fan of the NRA. But I had lunch with them — with Wayne and Chris and David, on Sunday — and said, “It’s time.” We got to stop this nonsense. It’s time.

For us to let the democrats eat you alive?

I’m getting real tired of this “rope-a-dope” and “4D chess” bullshit explanation/defense for everything Trump’s doing. It’s pretty clear that he’s leaning toward “universal” background checks, which means that, in order to sell or give a gun - any gun - to my kids, I have to run them through a background check and get the government’s permission. Didn’t Cruz got permission from the government to guy a gun? Once again, we’re being presented with a “solution” that will affect ONLY law-abiding citizens and NOT criminals.

The NRA and the vast majority of its members, myself included, supported and helped initiate the NICS, which is only as good as the information fed into it by the states, which is NOT comprehensive. There are a number of states that fail to report disqualifying information to the FBI, which administers the NICS system. In Cruz’s case, the school, county, and local police should have charged him with various crimes and he should have been reported for mental health issues, which would have resulted in his disqualification to purchase a firearm. They did not - and primarily due to a federal program that tied funding to a decrease in crime. In the case of Broward County and Parkland, crime didn’t decrease, they just stopped arresting and reporting people like Cruz so it looked like crime was going down. Again, in Cruz’s case, local citizens reported his behavior in accordance with what they were asked to do; when they “saw something”, they said something, but the FBI was too busy to do anything about it.

The bottom line is that the Parkland shooting was not only allowed, but facilitated by bad policy and utter incompetence and ineptitude at every level of government.
The government’s answer - as it always is, restrict the freedom of law-abiding citizens so everyone feels good, but only for a while, until those policies and laws, like the ones that preceded them, also fail. There are over 20,000 “common sense” gun laws on the books in the United States, but we haven’t gotten to common sense yet. Legislate, rinse, repeat. The one thing government is really good at? Making criminals out of law-abiding citizens and, increasingly in our case, not citizens, but subjects.

I thought this guy was supposed to be smart and embrace business-based solutions that actually work, not react emotionally to events and “just do something.” He’s more of a politician than I thought, maybe even one of the best.

Unilaterally banning bump stocks via executive order is unconstitutional and it sure as heck isn’t 4D chess.

So what TWO anti-gun owner regulations are you going to do away with to get THIS one Mr. President?

So, do you think an EO concerning this would get challenged like the immigration fiasco? I’m thinkin’ nobody would raise an eyebrow unless it’s the kkk. I mean NRA. Sorry. ;-)

This author put it best after that gun grabbing meeting

As for Trump loyalists… well they only had a few possible routes to take. They could say “he doesn’t really mean it”, they could say “he has a point you know”, or they could say “hmm? Gun meeting? No, I didn’t hear about that, hey have you seen Black Panther?”

Yep, reading all three in comments here at FR.

Mr. Trump stepped on his d*** yesterday. Better fix it - and fast.

And get rid of Sessions while you’re at it, Mr. President. You and your Presidency stand at the precipice.

Be prepared to be called a liar, a wacky-bird, a traitor and a Hillary supporter by the “Trump walks on water” crowd.

We’re not allowed to voice dissent when it comes to President Trump’s all-knowing political acumen.
