After Pharrell, Rihanna has objected to US President Donald Trump using her music at his campaign rallies ahead of the midterms.
The singer took to Twitter to protest after she learnt that her hit track "Don't Stop the Music" was reportedly played at a campaign rally Sunday for Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Rihanna was tipped off by Washington Post White House bureau chief Philip Rucker.
"(Neither) me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies. Thanks for the heads up Philip (sic)!" she tweeted her reply to Rucker.
The development comes after Rihanna endorsed Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum on Instagram.
Last week, Pharrell Williams sent a cease-and-desist notice to Trump after his popular track "Happy" was played at the US president's political rally, the same day of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
Other artistes who have forbidden the POTUS to using their music include Neil Young, Adele, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Queen, George Harrison, Luciano Pavarotti, Steven Tyler and Prince.

It’s called a Public Performance License, and virtually any commercial use of recorded music needs to have one. But once you do, and pay the licence fee, there’s not much the artist can do (except bitch, of course). It’s why the PPL was created, clearly no performer has time to deal with the countless bars, clubs, malls, etc who play their music and equally none of those entities could possibly arrange deals with thousands of artists.
They try to say political use is different but it’s not, really. A good way to waste some of their money however instead of giving it to bad candidates.

She’s come out in support of Gillum because he is black, i.e. wants him to be the first black governor of Florida. But she is also a citizen of Barbados so she walks a fine line.

These are alternative forms of the past tense and past participle of the verb learn. Both are acceptable, but learned is often used in both British English and American English, while learnt is much more common in British English than in American English.

Any group that pulls that crap I would never buy or listen to again just like all the actors and actresses I no longer view.
Prince died in April of 2016 and I suspect he never had a chance to forbid anything personally of Trump. Pavrotti died in 2007 way before Trump even ran for anything so I don’ t see how he personally could have forbidden Trump to use his music. Marshburn used Rihanna’s music not Trump, so how it got related to POTUS doesn’t logically follow.

Most of these artists don’t own their music. It belongs to their label or a syndicate. The owner is paid for it’s use and gives some back to the artist. So take the money and shut up. I’m just sayin’
More fake news. The publishing company owns the rights to that crappy music - you just pay the 5 dollar fee for that crap and call it good.

George Harrison? He was dead before Trump even entered politics. Pavarotti too. How could they be upset or is it their estates?
Just bring over the Charlie Daniels Band and Ray Stevens. Neither is going to object.
