This was the theory behind the Free State Project. (Unfortunately for the libertarians, the Dems already owned the state with crossover illegal voting from Boston.)
The flaw in this proposal is that once “blue staters” move to “red states” they find the residents aren’t actual Nazis/racists/bigots/etc. but are in fact pretty decent people, far more decent than the ruthless savages of the places they used to inhabit.

Looking at the red/blue map of the House of Representatives: the Democrats have a very narrow strip along the west coast, New England, Boston, NYC, and a few other cities.
Almost the entire land mass is Republican.
So this suggestion for inner migration is a colonialist call for colonists to colonize the large interior of the United States.
Yet they turn right around and vote for the same kinds of legislators who destroyed California.
... And red states are better anyway! That’s why they’re red.
They’ve been doing this for years by giving higher welfare and Section 8 benefits in places that have too many Republican voters.
They have already been doing that for Decades. Here are some examples: Liberal Californians moving to Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Arizona and lately Texas. Liberals from NY, NJ and a few other New England States moving to Florida and lately North Carolina. They flee their high tax States and move to lower tax States but bring with them their stupid liberal voting patterns that caused the problems they fled in their former States. Talk about “Stupid”.
Also Virginia and soon Arizona

Yep. Sometimes I feel like we are fighting a hopeless rear-guard action. And now that the Democrats have the House, there will be no opportunity to fix anything.
The GOP lock in 2017 and 2018 was squandered away. That chance might not come again.
Blue staters moving to red states also find that the residents are armed.

And the flaw in your logic is that they’ll vote republican.
They won’t.
They will continue to vote RAT, because that’s how they’re programmed. They will continue to watch and believe CNN, MSNPC, NPC, SeeBS, and all the other clown car freedom haters. And they will vote accordingly.

Years ago,there used to be a big Billboard Signs as you entered the States of Oregon and Washington that said “Welcome. If you are from California, enjoy your stay in our State, but please return to your California home”. The signs didn’t work. The Cities of Portland and Seattle have become California Migrant settlements that outnumber the rural Conservative voters in those States.
predictions are that after 2020 Census Montana could gain a seat in 2023 and Colorado will gain 1. And other changes will be know late 2020.
Don’t forget Vermont!
Limbaugh says Texas is their target. If the Democrats get control of Texas, they can control the Electoral College. They will have California, New York, and Texas. Florida probably added for good measure, because if they can’t get it legally by votes, they have learned that they can steal it. This will continue until it is stopped.
