Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak Vetoes National Popular Vote Bill
Breitbart ^ | May 30, 2019 | Joshua Caplan

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) on Thursday vetoed a bill which would have pledged the state’s six electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote for President of the United States.

“Once effective, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact could diminish the role of smaller states like Nevada in national electoral contests and force Nevada’s electors to side with whoever wins the nationwide popular vote, rather than the candidate Nevadans choose,” a statement via Sisolak reads. “I recognize that many of my fellow Nevadans may disagree on this point and I appreciate the legislature’s thoughtful consideration of this important issue. As Nevada’s governor, I am obligated to make such decisions according to my own conscience. In cases like this, where Nevada’s interests could diverge from the interests of large states, I will always stand up for Nevada.”

Would be funny if Nevada barely voted for the Rat, but the Republican won the NPV.

You want to see heads explode, then.

It would have been unconstitutional.

Edwards signed a pro-life bill in Louisiana recently as well.

Jeez, I haven’t been paying attention to this guy.

Accordin to the odious Wikipedia

“After joining the commission in 2009, Sisolak was “vehemently opposed to raising property taxes”[13] and property tax rates remained flat during his entire tenure on the commission.[14] Sisolak voted against increasing the county gas tax in 2013.[15] He served as the commission’s vice chairman[16] before becoming chairman in 2013.[17]”

There’s other stuff he did which says he may be a DINO...amazing

Good unless the Gov knows they have the override votes and is hoping for red votes when he runs again.

The NPV will push up Pubbie turnout in "lost" states, such as California, which won't tip California on its own, but will be sufficient to alter the results of ALL of the smaller NPV participating states, resulting in a massive landslide for the Republican. And by Republican, naturally I'm excluding jackoffs like Romney, Flake, Peter King...

He's right, and good on him for doing the right thing for his state.

CA & NY are of course solid progressive. FL is a toss-up these days and TX...if immigration (both legal from other states, and illegal) continues, TX could go BACK to being the blue state is has mostly been in the past.

He wouldn’t be the first Nevadan to figure out that California already runs his state enough.

That's why the Maoists are doing an end run around the Electoral College rather than a direct assault. They know that a Constitutional Amendment would get no more than...say...20 state legislatures to approve it.And of course those 20 state legislatures are gonna sign on to *this* effort...until the Federal courts declare “unconstitutional”.

Its rare to find a Democrat who actually does the right thing. Heck I was shocked to find out that the Dem Governor of Louisiana is pro life, I didnt know that

This governor must understand that the NPV initiative is death to small states and he has clearly acted in the best interests of the State of Nevada. The Democrat Party is trying to persuade or shove their Democrat politicians to get on board with this effort. It’s bad for all small states, Democrat and Republican and the Democrats are lying as usual.

This is also an unconstitutional compact among states, but if small states like Nevada wise up, that question will never come up.

Called the Govenor’s office and thanked him for vetoing Assembly Bill 186. Suggest others do the same. I don’t usually call a Dem govenor, but he did the right thing and should be told.

Unusual but refreshing grasp of reality and original intent for a governor.
