The U.S. and Mexico failed to reach a deal on immigration issues during their Wednesday meeting.

Officials met just days before 5% tariffs on all Mexican imports are set to kick in, while President Donald Trump was in the U.K. on a state visit. Trump announced the tariffs in a surprise tweet last Thursday, saying they would be imposed “until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP.”

On Wednesday evening, Trump tweeted that “progress is being made, but not nearly enough!” The president said talks will continue on Thursday and that if no deal is reached then tariffs will begin on Monday.

“Mexico already got the word from Congress that they will stop Trump. They have no reason to negotiate now.”

Plus — based on media coverage — Mexico probably expects Trump to be gone in a year and half ... which is why China ain’t playing ball.

According to a Fox Biz breaking this afternoon, Mexico is DEMANDING that the US pay for Economic Development in Southern Mexico, and “Marshal Plan” initiative for Honduras and Nicaruaga.

PAID FOR by the American taxpayer, of course.
Mexico was in no way serious about negotiating. Turn the screws, double the planned tarrif, and watch GM scream...

The seven Republicans who voted on Tuesday with Democrats to grant illegal aliens amnesty include:

Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE)

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL)

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA)

Congressman Will Hurd (R-TX)

Congressman Dan Newhouse (R-WA)

Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ)

Congressman Fred Upton (R-MI)

Some of these congressmen also voted for a resolution in March that would terminate President Donald Trump’s national emergency and make it harder to secure America’s southern border

They way it stops is 2 aircraft carriers on either side of Mexico and 50,000 troops with heavy armor and attack helicopter waiting for invasion orders on the Texas border. In the meantime shut the dam border down and financially destroy them

Good. The cartels will get fed up once the 5% kicks in and at the point of a gun those Mexico City Politicians will get their collective house in order.... Personally, when the auto manufacturers return north of the DMZ we’ll all be better for it.

Trump would do well to start hammering Mexico on reciprocation for US Citizens treatment while in Mexico as a good secondary issue to really get their attention.

Maybe putting Mexico in the same boat with Cuba for ending travel for a while would fix the whole thing over night.

Quit buying stuff from Mexico ... a 25% reduction of trade will cause the government to fall. Let the importers (who have to pay cash up front before the goods are allowed in) eat them if no one buys them.

As Milos Zorica said over at Quora, “All mexicans are brown skinned, black haired, eat beans for breakfast, lunch and dinner, are not taller than 5ft 2in and unless they move to the USA, they know nothing.

Mexicans are primarily of Native American and European descent. Many Mexican ancestors came from Southern Europe and in particular Spain, where many blonde people live, especially Northern Spain (Galicia).

So it is unlikely they dyed their hair.

Why would you expect them to reach a deal when the Mexicans KNOW the senate is stabbing our POTUS in the back, they KNOW the chamber of cheap labor AND BIG donors will never agree to close the border!!! Why in the HELL would Mexico be afraid of tariffs they know our own side are against!!! I KNOW many of you here feel we HAVE TO keep these BASTARDS in power but I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!! I will NOT vote for this senate in 2020 let the damn cards fall where they may, they are doing this BECAUSE this is Trumps number ONE issue and THEY want him to lose SCREW THEM ALL!!! They say that the tariffs will hurt the Americans buying power WELL what the HELL are these illegals costing us in healthcare, food, housing, Americans lives being lost, these BASTARDS think we honestly care about having to pay more for tomatoes, and lettuce, GIVE ME A DAMN BREAK!!! They lost the house in the midterms because of their obstruction to MAGA, the senate didn’t learn their lesson OR they don’t care as long as Trump loses!!!

Ron Johnson told them they don’t have a veto proof majority to overcome the tariffs.

I hope Ron Johnson s correct HOWEVER with every Dem voting no tariffs AND half of Republicans voting no tariffs they may be able to over ride, we will see!!! These BASTARDS have been given the most conservative POTUS in DECADES and they give us the MIDDLE FINGER!! These BASTARDS need to be primaried BUT we all know how that goes!! I am BEYOND PISSED I finally SEE eyes wide open they honestly don’t give a damn about the country, constituents, or ANYTHING but themselves, their power, and their BIG donors!!! SO NOW they have my MIDDLE FINGER let the cards fall where they may as far as I am concerned we have ALREADY lost the senate!!!

McCarthy said the other day on FNC (forget which show) the HOR Republicans have enough no votes to maintain a veto.

I hope I’m wrong, but these
tarriffs may provoke the cartels
into attacking American intrests
as a retaliatory action. No
illegals on the march = no $$$.
They could care less about Mexico’s
economy.

Wow such torture!!! 5% on $135B of exports over the course of a year is $8B. Will anyone notice? I think the State Dept gave Guatemala $10B recently.

5% on $135B of imports raises $8B in direct revenue annually. Not enough. IT would take may years.

Even at 10% on the $135B is not that much pain. It raises about $13.5B or about $1.1B per month. Insignificant amount really.
