If you were on Twitter over the weekend, you probably saw a lot of talk about President Trump talking to his advisors about the possibility of buying Greenland.
Richochet’s Jon Gabriel imagined a Greenland purchased by Trump:

Gabriel didn’t get credit, but his photo was retweeted by President Trump Monday, who promised not to build a huge gold Trump Tower in Greenland.
I promise not to do this to Greenland! pic.twitter.com/03DdyVU6HA

I swear... they just don't get it.
That would be surrounded by lush green golf courses. And the people who lived on that land would have taken their paymentw and bought something nicer.
There’s nothing to see there except our missiles and sand. The tower would be a great addition lol
Nah they don’t have a clue.
But they remind me of us sometimes during obama’s horrible 8 years.
The difference is obama WAS and IS a monster and traitor.
Trump’s just the opposite.
But we didn’t get violent or talk about wanting someone dead.
At least I think we didn’t :)
Greenlands population: 56,687
$5 million per resident = $283 billion
They are supposedly independent from the Danes.
GDP per capita $41,800
Giving these Inuits FU money to vote for joining the US seems like a plan doesnt it. That is before giving them Casino rights or any other goodies their hearts may desire. Hell, for a family of 4 that is buy a small tropical island kind of money.
Denmark has a GDP of 330 billion and right now subsidize Greenland to the tune of $12500 per person per year. What the hell could they counter with?
Easy decision for the Inuits.
But the media are too stupid, lazy and consumed by Trumphatred to get the underlying issue. Russia and now China are making plays for the vast resources in and around the Arctic Ocean. Denmark is too small to be playing in that game. They will likely need our help in some form.
We need it before the Chinese buy it.
Will this be before or after Trump finishes the Trump Tower and casino in Pyongyang for Lil Kim?
Watch. In a year Greenland will be begging Trump to invest bigly in Greenland. :)
What a depressing place. Not a tree anywhere in sight. Not even a bush or a shrub, as far as I can tell.
No doubt and beyond the narrow strip of green grass on the shorelines is the vast thick cap of ice.
This is a security issue. China wants Greenland. They can use money to curry favor and then burrow in. They offered to buy the former USAF Sondrestrom Airbse, but Denmark said no. Now they are offering to build an airport.
I once spent a month trekking through the mountains and fjords of Greenland’s East coast. Far from depressing, I found it magical and exhilarating.
That must have been one heck of an expedition. I congratulate your spirit of adventure.
I don’t normally find looking at pictures of snow- and ice-covered landscapes depressing at all. But there’s something about lack of vegetation that evidently bothers me quite a lot.
Doesn’t appear that Trump’s vision of Greenland will become real either.
‘lack of vegetation’...
On the contrary, there’s plenty of vegetation. During the brief summer, the ice-free coastal fringe (actually quite wide - 50+ miles in places) is a blaze of colour. No trees, but brilliant reds, golds and greens from the many species of lichen and moss, and carpets of a suprisingly wide range of wild flowers. That, coupled with every conceivable shade of blue in the floating ice in the fjords makes a spectacular landscape.
Thanks for the info. Must look for some different pictures — everything I saw on Wikipedia looked pretty bleak.
