FULL TITLE: Exclusive — Kevin McCarthy: GOP Aims to Retake House After Impeachment by Turning Out 8.5 Million Trump Voters who Stayed Home in 2018

House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy told Breitbart News exclusively that Republicans think they can retake the House majority in 2020 by turning out millions of voters who backed President Donald Trump in 2016 but stayed home in the 2018 midterm elections.

In fact, in his latest exclusive interview on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel, McCarthy explained that Republicans would currently be in the House majority had these voters turned out in 2018—and that the GOP would have held at least 28 more seats than the party currently has.

“There were 8.5 million Trump voters who voted in 2016 who did not turn out in 2018,” McCarthy said. They’re identified. If they turned out in 2018, and we know exactly where they live, we’d still be in the majority. We would have won 28 seats that we currently don’t have.”

Having the president atop the ticket in 2020, McCarthy said, will help the GOP turn those nearly nine million voters out who didn’t vote in 2018 but did in 2016.

I do hope the GOP takes the House.

I also hope Kevin McCarthy is not the leader after that.

The GOP should be able to retake the House and build on its Senate majority.

The only way to stop the impeachment BS is to have the GOP take control of the House in Nov.

The reason you lost was you were not supporting the President, dolts.
Paul Ryan threw the House to the Dems.

We need new leadership.
McCarthy is from the failed Bush League wing of Boehner, Ryan, Cantor hell bent on turning the USA into North Mexico.

All those GOP House members that resigned were compromised and forced to walk away with their corrupt millions by the deep state so impeachment could commence.

Sounds like a good strategy, but the GOP had better get some competent, credible candidates in place for many of these races.

wonder if he accounts for people who voted Trump and mostly republican but died since 2016? easy enough to have the list, but can those on the list truly vote in 2020? and what about getting young new voters instead of just trying to bank on previous voters?

The GOP would be fortunate to hold onto the Senate. It would be remarkable if they could build on their majority.

Most of the incumbents facing re-election in 2020 are Republicans, including some very vulnerable ones. Meanwhile, there are very few vulnerable Democrats out there.

Somewhere between 25% and 30% of the people who attend most of Trump’s rallies are Democrats. These people may have voted for Trump in 2016, but I’ll bet very few of them vote for Republicans in down-ballot races.

Sorry, but my opinion of Rep. McCarthy has improved over the course of this impeachment mess.

I could think of others who might make a better speaker, but I don’t get any impression that McCarthy is weak or wobbly.

Overall, the Freedom Caucus reps have done a fine job defending Trump and poking holes in the tissue-thin RAT impeachment case.

Yes the Freedom Caucus members have done an outstanding job.
McCarthy is the opposite of that.
He has been a Bush League Republican for open borders/amnesty for his entire career.

RINO dimwit Kevin McCarthy blames conservatives for mid-term loses.
MARK LEVIN·THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2019·READING TIME: 1 MINUTE
Can’t the GOP find better “leaders” than McCarthy and McConnell? Apparently not. These fools repeatedly attack the Republican conservative base, which has delivered them one electoral victory after another. They just refuse to govern as conservatives and resent being exposed and called out for it.

Kevin McCarthy: GOP Aims to Retake House After Impeachment by Turning Out 8.5 Million Trump Voters who Stayed Home in 2018

...

There were 8.5 million Trump voters who voted in 2016 who did not turn out in 2018,” McCarthy said

So basically, he or they aren't "turning out 8.5 million voters". Those are just that type of voters who don't bother with mid terms

Besides, it's the independent vote that matters most and the independents see this impeachment stuff as bullschiff. How much that affects the ticket downstream depends on a lot of things that are State and District issues and whether there's decent (R) candidates running but if anyone's going to punish the dems, it's independents.

Still, how many of the several House seats in Cali that got taken by ballot harvesting can be won back? Republicans need to become political activists.

I'm sure someone still has Paul Ryan's address.

Congressman McCarthy, quit betraying your base and you will hold the house and senate for decades. And don’t pretend you don’t know what I am writing about. Remember the promise to “Repeal Obamacare”? Remember the promise to “Build the Wall”? Remember the promise to send the illegal aliens home? We remember. Pubbies didn’t stay home last election because it wasn’t a presidential election, they stayed home because they are sick to death of being betrayed by the party. Hell, I am still furious over the gang of 14.
