I graduated in 1980.
Race relations were far better than outside of the great lakes states and the coasts.
There were more interracial marriages than there are now, because people of my generation didn’t focus on race.
Now there are probably less people who actually get married instead of just sleeping around than the portion of marriages which were interracial when I was in my twenties.
Me though?
I don’t have a television. All this Hallmark stuff doesn’t affect me because I was through with television after the rural purge...when Green Acres and Petticoat Junction were replaced with All In The Family, The Jeffersons, and endless political round tables.

I’m frankly sick of the whole inter racial couple thing. Every commercial has a black man with a whit woman or a white man with a black woman. It’s like black people don’t like each other and white people dont like each other. One or two is fine, but almost every single commercial has mixed race couples.

What a fake virtue-signaling nobody. Hallmark has not (yet) been inclusive with gay characters (couples, anuway), but they have a smattering of every race just like all the other networks do. The minister in a Christmas movie is usually black, as is the head of a department at a university. I’ve seen guys in their movies who seemed gay, but I can never tell if they are playing a character that way or of they just can’t sublimate their own gayness long enough to play a character in a sappy movie.

There must be 50 more young women who would love to make a Hallmark movie about a white, straight couple. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Perhaps you have seen or heard of the movie Breakthrough.
It’s the true story of a boy who fell through the ice and was submerged for over 15 minutes, given up for dead, but miraculously recovered as the result of prayer.
I know someone who actually knows this boy and his family.
In the movie both the firefighter who pulls him out of the water and the doctor who treats him are black. In real life they were white. The producers changed their colors to avoid.....this.
Sorry but they have caved to the gay, lesbian, bi racial commercials. So it is just a matter of time.
