With Wednesday night’s vote, the efforts by House Democrats to impeach President Donald Trump put the Republican-led Senate on track to hold a trial on the charges against him as the new year begins.
But the exact timing of the Senate trial now looks in doubt, as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has raised the possibility that she and her colleagues could delay transmitting the articles of impeachment to the Senate.

McConnell’s recent comments have drawn criticism from Democratic lawmakers and sparked some expectations for a delay. After Wednesday’s vote, Pelosi declined to say when the impeachment articles will get transmitted to start the Senate trial, saying Democrats “haven’t seen anything that looks fair to us” in the Senate’s process.
In a Washington Post op-ed earlier this week, a Harvard law professor, Laurence Tribe, called for Pelosi and her colleagues to consider holding off for the time being on transmitting the articles because McConnell has “announced his intention to conduct not a real trial but a whitewash.” This move could strengthen Schumer’s hand in bargaining over trial rules, according to Tribe.

Yeah even a lot of Democrats and others who don’t really care for Trump are going to start admitting that he’s getting the shaft here.

She wants a Stalinist show trial in the Senate and won’t allow it to go forward until Mitch McConnel and the Republicans guarantee a guilty verdict right up front.
So she’s finally figured out a way out Ha! She can take her articles with her to her retirement home. Put them up on the wall and drool at them for all I care. Thank Heaven this fake impeachment is finally over !!
Rush reviewed the whole situation and then concluded that until Pelosi is certain of a conviction in the Senate she will not name the managers and submit the impeachment articles to the Senate.
She will never allow impeachment to go forward when aquital is the outcome

We want Trump convicted! An acquittal or even a dismissal, would mean it was all for naught.
They want Pierre Dilecto to round up 22 plus GOP votes to remove Trump from office.
If they don’t get it, they’ll wait til hell freezes over.
There is no impeachment without turning in the paper work.
As Pelosi’s articles of impeachment are garbage, why should anyone even wait or want their delivery.
The US Senate procedure should be equally creative as the House by simply proceeding.

McConnell can vote to dismiss/acquit now - irrespective of the timing of the arrival of articles. Pre-acquittal. Pre-dismissal.
Deem the articles dismissed.

Paperwork can be lost or you can’t find it. Democrats will sit on impeachment and bring it to the Senate when they think they have the votes to convict there.
Whether it takes six months or five years doesn’t matter. Democrats now have all the time in the world.
They’re not in any great hurry to bring it to trial.
If commies refuse to send it to the Senate..than call it what it is, a BOGUS IMPEACHMENT..and the Senate should just dismiss it, call it what it is, a bogus impeachment in name only

That point needs to be made over and over again.
No impeachment has occurred. There’s a process to it, and they haven’t done it.
As for dragging their feet to try to get the outcome they want, it was pointed out on another thread that Trump could file a Writ of Mandamus with the SCOTUS to force either a speedy trial or dismiss the charges.
They can’t have it both ways with a cheap excuse like “we don’t like your process”.
Democrats are now arguing if its partisan they can’t convict. The funny thing is that it being partisan was good enough to impeach.
Just don’t accuse them of hypocrisy.
That will leave the ball in Pelosi's court for the next 12 months. Should be fun for her.
Trump should file a writ of mandamus with the supreme court and they must force Queen Pelosi to deliver them to the Senate.
Romney is good with Trump for the time being. He has been very quiet lately.
