Virginia Governor Northam Increases Corrections Budget In Anticipation Of Jailing Gun Owners
Daily Caller ^ | 12/24/19 | NRA ILA

As if Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s wholesale attack on law-abiding gun owners wasn’t enough, the disgraced public official and his Michael Bloomberg-bought allies in the General Assembly now want the state’s hard-working taxpayers to foot the bill for their unconstitutional schemes. The budget bill (HB30) includes an appropriation of a quarter million dollars to carry out a host of gun control measures that Northam and his anti-gun allies hope to enact.

The $250,000 is appropriated to the Corrections Special Reserve Fund in order to provide for the “increase in the operating cost of adult correctional facilities resulting from the enactment” of Northam’s gun control measures. Among the enumerated laws that this allocation is meant to fund is a ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, the criminalization of private firearms transfers, and gun confiscation orders issued without due process.Aside from the insult of forcing law-abiding Virginia taxpayers to pay for the diminution of their rights, the gun control allocation is a severe waste of resources. Northam’s Bloomberg-backed gun control measures will not make Virginia safer.

In additional to being unconstitutional, a ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms will not reduce violent crime.

Long guns of any description are rarely used in violent crime. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data breaks down homicides by weapon type. In 2018, the FBI reported that there were five times as many individuals listed as killed with “knives or cutting instruments,” than with rifles of any kind. The data also showed that rifles were listed as being used in less homicides than “blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc.)” or “personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.).”

He doesn’t need to put parents in prison in order to take the kids.

All he needs to do, and it is a valid concern, is to declare the children to be in a dangerous environment with armed and potentially violent parents.

That will scare parents worse than threatening them with jail.

A vile man.

Core issue: Illegal, criminally convicted aliens are allowed to re-enter , be sheltered secretly by defiant sanctuary cities, and commit crimes (as Kate Steinle murder).

Why allowed? Because they feel like it and they were in the mood.

When that is tried to protect existing 2nd Amendment rights, then it’s not allowed after all.

We should never have tolerated the sanctuary cities’ officials’ action at all. Crime is crime.

Gov Northam the wannabe petty dictator sure seems to be girding for a battle that he can’t hope to win. He’s simply seeing how far he can push the envelope it would appear IMO.

Actually, the people need to shut this down. It carries more force and will have longer and broader consequences.

If the law(s) passes, the Dems will be looking for people they can make examples of to scare the populace into compliance. They’ll be looking for ‘regular’ people ... upstanding, honest citizens who, having legally bought their guns, become felons with the stroke of a pen. Your neighbor, your hunting buddy, maybe a relative, etc. .... it’s going to be a really bad scene when this starts happening.

As of 12-23-19 92% of the Virginia counties are 2nd Amendment Amendment sanctuaries.

“Virginia Governor Northam Increases Corrections Budget In Anticipation Of Jailing Gun Owners”

Not an issue.

What IS IMPORTANT is that we Conservatives sat out the election last month to ‘teach the GOP a lesson’ for running RINOs and GOPe types, and now the GOP is PAYING THE PRICE for ignoring us (even if it means our people going to jail).

If anything triggers, CWII, it will be something like this. Trampling on the 2nd Amendment, removing legally-purchased firearms from their lawful owners, is the surest sign of impending government tyranny that there is.

Does Virginia have a recall provision in its constitution?

Yes, but you see, the Democrats seek to separate families, the same thing they accuse Trump of doing.

They seek to round us up, the same they they refuse to do to illegal aliens.

Naked hypocrites.

Several have posted that, but I don’t think he can. The constitution expects the citizens of a state to attend to their own problems and so far the citizens of Virginia have not.

Not to say that they will not. West of interstate 85 there are some pretty tough strong willed people who do not like being messed with.

Recipe for sustainable Socialist Revolution:

1. Disarm the populace

2. Gain control of the "news" media

3. Gain control of the education system

$. eliminate ALL poliictal opposition by whatever means necessary

" . . . upstanding, honest citizens who, having legally bought their guns, become felons with the stroke of a pen."

This is very close to an "ex post facto" law, prohibited by the Constitution, criminalizing something after the fact. Proponents will argue that they are not criminalizing the purchase of the gun after the fact, but only its continued possession, just as other once-legal items have later been banned for one reason or another.

It is a slippery argument, but the INTENT is clearly to chip away at the 2nd Amendment, first by banning "scary" guns, then by banning the guns that do most of the actual harm - pistols and revolvers. The rationale for banning them will change, weapon by weapon.

Honestly, we should have never tolerated Communists in our midst.

We aren’t going to be able to proceed as long as this continues.
