Biden said he would contest nomination even if Sanders leads in delegates: 'You don't change the rules in middle of the game'

Former Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday he would contest the presidential primary nomination at the Democratic convention if Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is leading in delegates without securing a majority.

“The rules have been set,” Biden said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Biden questioned Sanders’ take that the candidate with a plurality of pledged delegates the convention should become the nominee.

“I wonder where that view was when he was challenging Hillary when she went in with a commanding lead,” Biden added. “You don't change the rules in the middle of the game.”

Sanders is the only candidate in the field this year to insist that the candidate with the most pledged delegates should be the party nominee. He held the opposing view in 2016 when facing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Biden’s commitment to challenge the nomination comes after he won his first primary in South Carolina on Saturday.

Biden is trailing Sanders in the number of pledged delegates as the candidates head into Super Tuesday, when the largest number of states will hold primaries and caucuses including Texas and California.

From people I know in that camp, if Bernie is “cheated” again at the convention the socialists do plan to run their own ticket, but it will be younger socialists and not Bernie whom they will get on the ballot.

I would not at all be surprised to see Tulsi Gabbard.

Question:

What would happen IF Biden got the nomination & after the Convention in Milwaukee, Ukraine indicted him for the fraud & interference he performed in the Burisma ‘influencing’ case?

Would the Dems pick another candidate?

Just askin’.

If he hadn’t been such a pompous jerk on camera bragging about his quid pro quo, I would pity him. His continued gaffes look to me (and Steve Crowder) as the signs of Dementia or Alzheimers.

No, officially he is an independent - which is why so many in the Democrat leadership take issue with him as the nominee.

“He ain’t getting enough delegates....ever...”

that’s a good question, and i agree with your assessment about Farmer Mike’s failure to garner very many delegates ...

sooner or later, he’ll drop out and then direct a couple of billion to try to buy the House and the Senate, like he bragged in his second debate about buying the House in 2018 ... i also suspect that’s why Trump is out doing a rally every day this early in the game, namely to try to counter that expected massive influx of cash for the Dems ...

1208 search results on "convention"; here's a small sample, with some search results on "superdelegates" and I think some additions:
