“windmills in everyone’s backyard” reminds me of Communist China’s “Great Leap Forward” in the 1960’s. Mao ordered creation of communes and for people to build kilns in their yards to produce iron and steel. It turned out to be a ‘great leap backward.’

Don’t know how California works except saying the Gov. operates as though there is no Constitution.
Until after WW2, LA area had one of the best light rail systems in the country.
Then the oil companies convinced them to go to busses and automobiles. All the light rail tracks were torn up and easements vacated.
So here we go again.
A science fiction editor once said ruling out gas cars with electric ones by the millions would be too expensive to supply with electricity , could lead to low income people pulling rickshaws with wealthier people riding in them. And a minority guy on the seat of an energy producing exercycle powering the appliances in the home of some well off people.

We used to have enough power without blackouts until hundreds of millions of cell phones needed towers. Now sports stadiums and parts of cities routinely have outages.
It wouldn’t take an oil company to ‘convince’ me to choose an automobile over light rail. I can go where I want, when I want, and with whomever I want. And I don’t have to worry about sitting next to some inner city thug either.
They can’t keep the power on all the time, and now they’re going to massively increase total load and peak load demands?

So the first thinga thinking of voter might ask, assuming there are very many thinking voters in California, is how are food and goods produced outside the state of California going to be delivered to the state of California?
