Former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell yesterday responded to the $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit that Dominion Voting Systems filed after she repeatedly accused the company of participating in an elaborate international conspiracy to deny Donald Trump his rightful victory in last year's presidential election. Her defense, more or less, is that she did not really mean what she said.
True, Powell claimed over and over again that Dominion rigged voting machines to manufacture "millions" of votes for Joe Biden. She fingered a specific Dominion executive as largely responsible for the scheme, claimed the plot had its roots in fraud-facilitating software that had helped keep Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez in power, and said China, Cuba, and George Soros were also in on it. But "no reasonable person would conclude that the statements were truly statements of fact," Powell says in her motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Powell also argues that the preposterousness of her allegations should protect her from civil liability for damaging Dominion's reputation. "Plaintiffs themselves characterize the statements at issue as 'wild accusations' and 'outlandish claims,'" she notes. "They are repeatedly labelled 'inherently improbable' and even 'impossible.' Such characterizations of the allegedly defamatory statements further support Defendants' position that reasonable people would not accept such statements as fact but view them only as claims that await testing by the courts through the adversary process." ***

To make is simple, the hinge of the argument is the court challenge. Reasonable people do not treat things as fact prior to the challenge, but would consider it fact after the evidence is presented in the court challenge. That is the part that the critics here seem to be missing.
It was evident that she was not to be taken seriously.

Howard Kleinhendler, Powell’s attorney, lays it out pretty well at her website in an official statement concerning the motion to dismiss.

When Lin Wood said to sit out the Georgia Runoffs (to ‘teach the GOP a lesson’ by letting the Dems win without having to cheat), even with Trump saying just the opposite, telling people to VOTE in Georgia, that’s when I knew our side was infiltrated.
When people on our side started defending and agreeing with Lin Wood (and thereby implying Trump was an idiot), that’s when I updated my passport. The country is FINISHED, time to find a new one.

You are completely missing the point. Powell is throwing their own words back at them. She is using their own words to beat them. “Hey, you guys said my claims are wild and incredible, so how can that be slander if nobody believed them?”
She made serious and true claims with evidence that the courts refused to admit. She never had a chance to make her case. Now that she is being sued unfairly, she is simply throwing their own words back in their face and spinning it as a defense.
She is brilliant. You are wrong to think she is making an admission that she lied or made up the accusations. She did not.
Maybe you can post an excert from one of her briefs that you feel illustrates clearly and without doubt “she was not to be taken seriously” because I don’t believe it.
