Former President Donald Trump is trouncing his Republican challengers in the Texas primary race as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis falls to third place, the latest CWSResearch/Defend Texas Liberty PAC Texas survey found.
The survey asked respondents, “If the upcoming 2024 Republican Primary for president were held today, and the candidates were Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Doug Burgum, for whom would you vote?”
Notably, both former Vice President Mike Pence and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott have since dropped out of the GOP primary race.

Nevertheless, Trump leads with a majority support, garnering 58 percent among likely Texas GOP primary voters. No other candidate comes close, as former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley comes in a distant second, 47 points behind with 11 percent support. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis falls to third place, in the single digits, 49 points behind Trump with nine percent support.
Vivek Ramaswamy comes in fourth place with five percent support, and remaining names saw two percent support or less. Another 13 percent remain undecided.
Further, the survey asked respondents who they would support if the field were narrowed to just Trump or DeSantis. Still, Trump takes the majority of support, 59 percent, followed by DeSantis with just 24 percent support. In that case, 17 percent remain undecided.

Before he announced a run for POTUS, I sent my governor three emails begging him not to run.
He ignored them!
Had he asked, I would have told him that his was a fool’s errand! A profitless endeavor with no good outcome!
He is a good governor. He needs to withdraw, endorse and campaign for President Trump and finish his term as Florida’s (and the nation’s) best governor!
“He can still win Iowa”
indeed ... Just tightly shut your eyes and tap your ruby slippers together over and over again while repeating, “There’s no place like Iowa, there’s no place like Iowa, there’s no place like Iowa” ...
Hope springs eternal! (only in minds of people who have to strategic brain).
I think the Peter Principle took effect. DeSantis has been a great state governor. I salute him for the stands he has taken on different issues and the end results. I just don’t feel that he is presidential material at his point in time. Maybe never.
Iowa isnt about support, it’s about organization. He has the machine backing him. I get it’s tradition but Iowa caucus’ are trash. That is their hope.
He listens to his ambitious wife and GOPe/Bush folks too much.
Haley is beating him. Now that scares the crap out of me.
“Plummets” to single digits? It couldn’t have been that far of a drop.
Will be voting for Trump no matter what. He could be indicted and convicted 100 times between now and Election Day and he's still got my vote.
That said, DeSantis has proven to be a complete phony and just a contemptible person. As recently as a year ago, I had high hopes that we would have four more years of Trump and then DeSantis assuming the MAGA mantle in 2028 for eight years. Now I want no part of DeSantis.
“but Iowa caucus’ are trash.”
i believe it ... all caucuses are trash ... after 2016, colorado voters overwhelmingly voted constitutional amendments to abolish the power of caucuses in favor of a state-wide primary vote because party insiders blatantly rigged the caucuses for both hillary and cruz in 2016 ...
