Russia has the advantage, and Ukraine needs to dig in if it's going to fend off the enemy's war machine, conflict experts say

Nearly two years into its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia again has the initiative, and its advantages over Ukraine are mounting.

Conflict experts are warning that Russia maintains a significant advantage over Ukraine in several key areas right now, and Kyiv will need to seriously dig in if it hopes to fend off Moscow's war machine and have any shot at offensive operations next year.

Michael Kofman and Dara Massicot, experts with Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Rob Lee, an expert at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, wrote in commentary published on Friday by War on the Rocks that "while the current state of the war has been described as a stalemate, spurring an animated debate over what that means, Russia holds material, industrial, and manpower advantages in 2024, along with the initiative."

But, "with tailored Western support, Ukraine could hold against Russian forces this year and rebuild the necessary advantage to conduct large-scale offensive operations in 2025, recreating another opportunity to deal Russia a battlefield defeat," they said.

They cautioned that "without major adjustments, or if Western support falters, the current path holds a high risk of exhaustion over time and Ukraine being forced to negotiate with Moscow from a position of weakness."

“without major adjustments, or if Western support falters, the current path holds a high risk of exhaustion over time and Ukraine being forced to negotiate with Moscow from a position of weakness.”

The losses could have been cut in 2022 when the Russians were hoping to make a deal. But Boris and Old Joe scuttled it because they thought that they could teach Putin a lesson.

Not seeing the Ukrainian tanks parading through Crimea and Red Square like we were promised .

And we don't seem to hearing much about the F-16s being game changers these days.

What's up with that?

According the Washington Post, the Neocons have now WRITTEN OFF their Ukraine War and simply want a ‘Korea-type’ solution (stalemate). Too bad Putin’s going to finish the job that the Neocons started...

Apparently it is now ON TO IRAN!, for the Neocons. Ukraine is TOTALLY YESTERDAY.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/01/26/ukraine-war-plan-biden-defense/

“Still smarting from last year’s failed counteroffensive in Ukraine, the Biden administration is putting together a new strategy that will de-emphasize winning back territory and focus instead on helping Ukraine fend off new Russian advances while moving toward a long-term goal of strengthening its fighting force and economy.”

If we only keep expanding NATO to the Russian border while allowing a wholesale invasion of our own country, all while our recruit starved military focuses on social justice, I don’t see how Ukraine can lose.

What could possibly change in Ukraine’s favor given more time? The globalists have thrown all their tanks, planes, and ammo at this. Hard to believe even the stupidest amongst us would go along with sending troops or nuclear weapons. More time seems to be weakening uke so it will not improve their negotiating position.

I know what the globalists gain from this but what do supposed “conservatives” get?

Doncha love how fat, pasty government-and-oligarch-funded academics in DC and NY can so easily pronounce on war-fighting taking place in the snow and muck 5000 miles away from their posh offices?

It will be over sometime soon after this November when Biden and Democrats finally realize the UKR distraction away from the US Economy, our Southern Border and insane woke pandering isn’t working.

“The losses could have been cut in 2022 when the Russians were hoping to make a deal.”

The Russians went in with forces structured to take over the country, replace the Government and brutally purge all political opposition (FSB torture and execution units for each geographic area).

Any deal they might pretend to seek or make, is just to mislead their opponents, or give them time they might need to build a better position for their next attack.

Putin’s intent is to conquer, and it does not stop at any point on a map, or in a treaty.

When the invaders first rolled in, it was going to be over in a week. Then a month. Then a few more months. Then...

Now...

Same old BS.

Ukraine was dug in eight years before this war began and Russia has and continues to grind down Ukrainian strongholds, primarily by using its massive advantage in artillery to kill Ukrainian soldiers.

The "expert" in question refuses to grasp Ukraine's critical shortage of troops.

Biden needs to ride a stalemate to the election, and Putin is not going to let him. Putin can’t stand Biden just as most world leaders can’t.

Despite contradicting yourself constantly, you have somehow managed to be completely wrong about everything related to Ukraine from day 1. You have assured us repeatedly that Russia is losing in every way possible... Now, you tell us Putin is on the move to take over the world? Unfortunately, you can't have it both ways.
