In recent days, however, the survivors of the 2,000-person brigade finally retreated west, escaping a gradual Russian encirclement of the ruined city, which once was home to 30,000 people and significant heavy industry.
A desperate shortage of artillery ammunition—the direct result of Russia-aligned Republicans in the U.S. Congress blocking U.S. aid to Ukraine starting last fall—means a handful of Ukrainian brigades in and around Avdiivka barely have held off a Russian force with perhaps a dozen brigades.
But if Ukrainian commanders indulge their anger at being abandoned by their American allies, and try to launch a serious counterattack in Avdiivka, they could lead the 3rd Assault Brigade to disaster.

The Republicans are killing Ukraine! Damn the Republicans!
It’s SO DAMN FUNNY to read their crap, as if the West has any weapons to send to Ukraine. I’m old enough to remember when Western reporters are Anti-War, Anti-Big Pharma, Anti-Spying on Americans - now look what they’ve become - and arm of the US Government - to the point of even PAYING their people to post on Social Media.
Note that those that oppose sending cash to a money laundering human trafficking hub are now russian aligned.
The desperation is a tell not of their hate for Russia, but of their true motivations.
At least they didn't blame Trump.
Yes, it is.
By the way, does the article bother to mention that the Neocons used Avdiivka to shell the nearby (large) city of Donetsk for 10 FULL YEARS, killing hundreds of civilians, INTENTIONALLY?
Probably not, but regardless, the Ukrainian sport of shelling Russian-speaking areas to see how many civilians they can kill in one shot is THANKFULLY coming to an end.
"...the direct result of Russia-aligned Republicans in the U.S. Congress blocking U.S. aid to Ukraine starting last fall...."
If it weren't for those Republicans.... < s a r c >
Same political BS as trotted out in the failing municipalities with migrant-overwhelmed "sanctuary" and such. Even though there are flailing Democrats and failing Democrat policies at work, all they've got now is "if it weren't for those Republicans...."

if a brigade ~ 2,000, how many Specialized Assault brigades has Chyna immigrated into the US?
if a brigade ~ 2,000, how many Specialized Assault brigades has Venezuela immigrated into the US?
if a brigade ~ 2,000, how many Specialized Assault brigades has Afghanistan immigrated into the US?
(Fellow FReepers, you may take my comment as Earnest or Sarcastic, at your pleasure!)
Thanks, I was hoping you’d show up!
“A desperate shortage of artillery ammunition—the direct result of Russia-aligned Republicans in the U.S. Congress blocking U.S. aid to Ukraine starting last fall”
I don’t believe that.
We are completely unable to PRODUCE enough 155mm artillery for the rate at which the ukies are using it.
All of them.
I thought you’d enjoy this one!
You must be referring to those Russpublicans.

I thought it was a direct result on not getting help from Europe....you know...their wealthy, stakeholding neighbors.
That's the narrative they're trying to establish.
Nope, no bias here..... David Axe. An immature jornolist twit outta South Carolina who likes to "write about planes, rockets, and stuff..."
Why is it that Zeepers (and Zeeper-icons like David) think that if you oppose or don't support money, weapons and blood for Ukraine then you're "Russia-aligned?" I just want my country to do what needs to be done here first.
