Trump raises conflict of interest in NY hush money case, closely following his political playbook

Last week, former President Trump launched a new assault against the judge in his hush money trial in Manhattan, this time reminding the public that the judge’s daughter is a Democratic political consultant and former Kamala Harris 2020 campaign staffer.

The judge’s daughter’s work, a long-known fact, was catapulted back into the national spotlight by Trump's legal team after a series of failed motions. Trump argues this continues to raise conflict of interest concerns as the trial moves forward.

This new offensive closely follows the wider strategy from him and his legal team to delay and poke holes in the credibility of the several cases against him, a strategy which helped unseat the lead prosecutor in the Georgia election case and damaged Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ public image.

Trump thrust Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter back into the public spotlight via a post on his Truth Social platform last week, closely following the judge’s decision to permit Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen to testify and to set an April 15 trial date.

Trump’s legal team had sought to prevent Cohen and Daniels’ testimony and argued that further delays were warranted after federal prosecutors turned over hundreds of thousands of documents to them.

Last year, Trump’s legal team first raised the issue of the judge’s daughter and her work with Democratic politicians. Trump also repeatedly raised Judge Merchan’s own small-dollar donations to Democratic politicians. His legal team argued these realities made Judge Merchan biased towards the former president and the forthcoming trial partial.

Does the government have 100,000's of documents lying around that they include with everything they are required to release just to turn every attempt at countering them into a search for needles in a haystack?

How many billable hours will it take to search through that haystack?

Well golly gee, you’re telling me there’s NO judge in New York that DOESN’T have a loon leftist wife or daughter?

You’re telling me there’s NO actual judges WITHOUT conflicts of interest??

Isn’t it funny how these cases have miraculously been directed to judges that JUST HAPPEN to have political operatives as daughters, wives or law clerks!

Isn’t it funny!

Trump can’t get a fair trial in NYC. The NY judicial system is a horror show filled with left wing political hacks.

This is a double edged sword. They need to make sure they don’t do anything that could be used against Clarence Thomas.

"Judges" like the ones presiding over Trump's case and those of the January 6th protestors remind me of the judges during the Reign of Terror in France. They declared anyone guilty and dispatched them to the guillotine without any weighing of evidence or consideration whatsoever. They were only there to pronounce guilt.

Wanna know what happened to those "judges"? They were arrested, tried and guillotined themselves.

the judge’s decision to permit Stormy Daniels Stephanie Clifford and Michael Cohen to testify

Shouldn't legal names be used in a court of law, especially when trying to take down a former President and current candidate?

Did Trump’s attorneys formally move that the judge recuse?

Did they file a complaint with the NYS Commission on Judicial Conduct?

Unless they did one or both, this claim isn’t going anywhere, on appeal or otherwise and its just political puffery.

The judge’s daughter worked for the Kamala Harris campaign and Trump donated money in support of Kamala Harris.

In 2013 Trump gave $1,000 to Kamala Harris.

In 2011 Trump gave $5,000 to Kamala Harris.

Kinda hard to dispute that, esp. since said Judge expanded his gag order to his daughter.

That Judge should be impeached, removed, and disbarred.

Judge’s daughter and her work with Democratic politicians.

That alone should remove him from the case biased connections.
