(Bill) Clinton urges end to global inequalities after war

PRAGUE, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Bill Clinton said on Monday the United States and its allies had to win the war against terrorism but in the long run the West also had to bring an end to global inequalities.

Speaking at a human rights conference in the Czech capital, Clinton repeated his support for his successor George W. Bush, and the action taken following last month's suicide attacks on the United States.

"At the moment we have to win the fight we are in, but over the long run we have to spread the benefits and shrink the burdens of this new age," he said.

"We have to get people in the developing world to turn away from primitive hatreds, we have to get people in the developed world to turn away from short-sighted selfishness," he said.

He said global inequalities fuelled violence and the United States and other wealthy countries had to do more to combat poverty, AIDS and environmental issues such as global warming.

Bush in March pulled out of the 1997 Kyoto treaty on climate change, saying the deal, signed by Clinton, would harm the U.S. eocnomy.

By withdrawing from the accord, Bush removed the world's biggest economy and the emitter of one quarter of the globe's man-made greenhouse gases, from a system based on countries of the world acting in concert.

Exactly right...perhaps we should compose a list of suggested questions for the media regarding their new found compassion for countries they bombed to distract people from their personal debauchery?

Question one: where are the FALN terrorist you released?

So, x42 is agreeing, in effect, that we brought this on ourselves.

Of course. The name of the game is that the "haves" need to cough up some goodies to the "have-nots", lest the latter break the kneecaps of the former. What other sort of strategy would the godfather of global organized crime endorse??

Bill, Bill, Bill. Can't you see that your old tired formula to promote World Socialism has been seen for the empty promise and road to ruin that it is?

Equal Justice under law, is all the equality that any can expect or hope for in this life. Giving Government, or World Governmental bodies, the power to attempt more is the danger that the twentieth century taught the whole world is too risky and corrupt to chance.

Given a chance, the World Socialists, like you Bill, will produce a repeat of the planned soviet economy on a world scale. That path must not be taken.

The only way to have global inequalities eradicated is if the United States of America shares the Clintons and their ilk! And if Bill and Hill really want to help these countries they should go there and volunteer to help them (they could still live off their Swiss bank accounts - chicom monies); therefore, they could still live in the capitalist pig style to which they have grown accustomed (per Hillary's gift registery in NYC for her rich digs in DC)! I have often thought that Bill was better suited to be President of Russia than America. And I think Hillary could be instrumental in turning Afghanistan around (she should take her NOW buds with her too)! Let them really do something instead of just talking big!

Dear Bill Clinton,

I would be happy to help you in the effort to eliminate inequality 'round the World, unfortunately, the Government already takes over 50 percent of my wages, and My Spouse controls the other half.

He said global inequalities fuelled violence ...

As evidenced by the extreme poverty of Usama bin Laden and the lackeys in the U.S. who spent their final days in strip clubs and massage parlors. Yeah, the evidence for the poverty angle is simply overwhelming.

... and the United States and other wealthy countries had to do more to combat poverty, AIDS ...

Well, we could keep all those Islamic fundamentalists out of our strip clubs and massage parlors. That might help reduce the spread of AIDS among Islamic fundamentalists.

... and environmental issues such as global warming.

Oh, yeah! I remember seeing all those protestors in Afghanistan and the Palestinian occupied portions of Israel demanding that something be done about all those greenhouse gasses.

On the other hand, if Bubba would just shut up we could reduce C02 emissions significantly.

Honestly, why would anyone even repeat such tripe?

Shalom.

This is more liberal crap. The reason for this attack is a religion that requires the faithful to kill any one who has a different religion.

There is no way we can change Islam. The best we can do is to isolate it and put an iron curtain around it. Then wait a few centuries until it destroys itself from within.

Pull his passport. Leave his butt over there. He is very near his homeland of Russia anyway. Maybe they will give him a new passport.

There is a mentality that adopts unproductive nuthouse cultures, nuthouse religions, nuthouse governmental systems, and nuthouse corruption, then complains abstractly about the injustice of the economic consequences and inequalities that logically result. The United Nations has become a forum dedicated to demanding the United States pay the cost for a free ride for this nuttiness to produce equality. Clinton, both the Clintons, are of this mentality.

There ain't no free ride. You get what you earn. Inequality is a logical consequence of behavior.

run the West also had to bring an end to global inequalities

That strikes me as a rather tall order. Why didn't Clinton do that during his presidency? Was he asleep at the switch or something? :)

Why doesn't the U.N. go ahead and give him his own country (Antartica is nice or even a deserted island with the Professor and Mary Ann--whoops, maybe not THAT island) so he has his own kingdom. Then he will shut up and we won't have him scurrying over the globe tell us what WE must do.

It's the same God damned bullshit demand for support of irrational self indulgence mediated by socialism. We have it domestically. Clinton supports it internationally with everyone lining up at the trough of the United States economy.
