"Uh, because 'the professionals' lie."

Ohhhhhhhh ... OK! So next you're gonna tell me that there was a gunman on a grassy knoll who fired at the aircraft. And of course he obtained his weapon from Abdul Habib of Al-Qaeda which will link this incident to the terrorists. Or perhaps it was the Nazi-Alien faction of Bin Laden's terror cell using their Illudium Q-238 ray gun to bring down this jet flight.

Yes the government has lied about things, but I think this administration is trying to be upfront and honest. Before I start spewing wild speculation, I would wait for the facts to be gathered, so I can discuss this event rationally.

I think people are assuming to much stuff. And you know what assume means ... it makes an ass out of u and me. I prefer to listen to credible sources of evidence and facts. There were unsubstantiated reports of an explosion. That report could've come from folks on the ground who heard the sound of the engine coming loose.

Know whut ah mean ...Vern?!

Can't we reinstate Michael Rivero just for a few days?

Was Michael Rivero kicked off the FR? That's news to me.

Frighteningly, some of his stuff was on-target, did you catch the David Shippers interview floating around about OKC?

Ask yourself why the FBI would make such a statement at this point?

OK, I have. Remember that little airport security bill the senate passed 100-1 but the house couldn't agree to? Then I heard a little blurb this morning right before the crash concerning reversal of posse commititis (sp??), IOW allowing our military to (from what I understand) work as "law enforcement" within the continental US.

Oh but, can't close those borders or throw our illegals!!!! Might offend someone! /sarcasm

Just heard last maintence was 11-11-01 (yesterday ?!?!?) Somebody musta left a socket in the sprocket aka FOD damage. But will leave it to the pros as to what would make engine fall off.

Stay safe !

Gee - this all occurs the day that the study regarding how Al Gore "really won" in Florida comes out. Coincidence? You be the judge.

Maintenance was done on November 11th, yesterday on the plane according to the AA press conference. However, there is a bird sanctuary in the area and if a bird gets in one of the turbines, sometimes, it can take out an engine. I still think it's terrorism.

Remember the fireman Mike Moran was from Rockaway and he told Osama Bin Laden to kiss his royal blankety blank and he announced that he was in Rockaway and something like "come and get me." Hopefully, just a coincidence.

It looks like some people already have their minds made up. They think it was terrorism and no amount of evidence will ever change their minds. If they end up saying it was engine failure (which it very well could be), and not terrorism, the people in charge of this investigation will be liars and trying to cover this up. You know, the whole conspiracy theories all over again.

It's been a little over 4 hours since this crash! Give it time, they will get to the bottom of it.

By now, they've checked the pasenger manifest to see if any al queda boys might have been on the aircraft, with his baggage in the cargo hold, ticking away, or waiting to be triggered by radio.

Not likely, given the type of damage reported. The engine would not have been damaged by a cargo hold explosion. Most likely scenario is FOD - Foreign object damage, like a bird strike, causing catastrophic failure of the engine, with parts piercing the fuel tank and wing structural elements, as happened with a DC-10 at O'Hare in 1979.

A Stinger is also a possibility, but I've been told by a pilot buddy that they have a difficult time acquiring a turbofan engine as a target, since they do not create a lot of heat, relative to a combat aircraft.

First job Tom Daschle had out of college was his required mandatory duty with the AF, as Information Officer (he graduated under the auspices of ROTC, you know). Not a fact he openly advertises in his campaign speeches.
