Practice? Not buying that one, these guys do things for maximum effect.
My understanding is these engines are replaceg at 10,000 hours, this engine was at 9800 hours.

I just saw the Rudder(tail)section being pulled out of Jamaica Bay. It looked in great shape,no dents or signs of impact,as far as I could see.I guess the shear wind force tore the darn thing right off.

Alright folks, lets move along, nothing to see here.
To: MeeknMing
Tell you what it sounds like to me...terrorists. The engine fell off and the tail was found 9 blocks up. Sounds like something blew up. Probably was supposed to go off yesterday but it didnt. The plane was just serviced yesterday, not a complete physical but it was checked. If something was put on it, was then.

Just a theory, but if this was a bomb placed inside the plane, just suppose it went off to early. Maybe the intended target was the city of NY.

PLANE'S MOTOR CAME DOWN IN A BOAT AT A GAS STATION - MOTOR HAS A HOLE IN IT ---- NOT THE BOAT'S MOTOR. . . Your "friend" is misinformed.
That was an engine shroud in the gas station. The engine was elsewhere.
I'M TALKIN JUST A SMALL HAND HELD SAM SHOT FROM ONE'S BACKYARD...
You're talkin' hysterical foolishness.
Eyewitnesses are notoriously unreliable. There are stories of both wings falling off, of an explosion causing one engine to come off, of both engines falling off...
But, then, some people will believe anything as long as it fits their pinhead conspiracy view of the world.

Why would terrorists blow up a plane full of Haitians when they had their choice of planes loaded with Americans?Real simple. I flew to Puerto Rico over the weekend and was amazed at how hard it is to tell the difference between some latins and arabs.
I wouldn't be surprised if the guy who planted the bomb was on the plane.
He wouldn't have stuck out like a sore thumb.

CMSGOP saw the tail, no evidence of blast, he said it tore away clean. If true, does that change your mind?

Let's see...what do we know now? Apparently, from multiple eyewitness accounts (and if you have been listening to Hannity today, you've heard some of them) that the plane leveled off at an altitude too low for a routine take-off, we know that the plane made an attempt to return to JFK and it dumped its fuel into Jamaica Bay...you know, the normal things planes do right before bombs go off.
We know that the plane was delayed for one hour before take-off for a mechanical check...obviously, Achmed, on the tarmac with the muffs was placing a bomb in that miraculous place where it could cause an engine separation, but not destroy the engine, not be seen on the body or wings, and not cause the wings to go, either. Nice job.
Then we know that the pilot sent out a transmission that was picked up by at least one other pilot that he had mechanical problems...common by-the-book tactic pilots are supposed to do during terrorist incidents and/or right before bombs go off...are we seeing a pattern here??
To: Badfoil
I'm pretty sure the normal flight path from JFK to Santo Domingo goes nowhere near downtown. JFK is southeast of Manhattan and Santo Domingo is southeast of JFK.

Try telling that to the families of the dead. The families of the dead are as hysterical as you, about now. They don't know, and you don't know.
If your objective is to totally destroy commercial aviation, keep posting preposterous statements like that one!
Another dopey statement. Another airline related terrorist incident would destroy commercial aviation quicker than a mechanical problem.
But, keep believing your conspiracy fairy tales. Free Republic is crawling with kooks today!

There is NO evidence that a bomb blew up that plane.
Of course! Everyone knows: it was a scud missile! ;-)

I thought that it was the newer engine (800 some odd hours) that experienced the failure? I also thought that the engines were overhauled, not replaced, at 10,000 hours? In any case, I think it's way too soon to rule anything in or out since even a mechanical problem could have a criminal component.
The only thing that the govt can do not to compund this awful event it to be completely truthful about it at all times. If they lie, even once, even about something niggling, Heaven help them.

Gentlemen,
It seems that you all have certain KNOWLEDGE that this is indeed a terrorist act.
There's only one way you all could have such knowledge, and that is because you are all involved in this outrage.
Therefore, I propose letting the FBI arrest you and engage in what was euphemistically called "hostile interrogation" back in days of yore...
Constitutional rights? You don't NEED no stinkin' rights.

There is NO evidence that a bomb blew up that plane.Actually, there's way more evidence that there was a bomb than not (little things like people hearing an explosion and pieces like the wing and engine falling off and landing away from the main crash site).
If anybody is hysterical it is you, I'm LMAO at your posts!

There is absolutely no evidence of any bomb anywhere on this plane. You miss the point totally. Why would a terrorist board a flight to Santo Domingo, the poorest nation in our hemisphere in order to harm Americans. It makes zero sense.
