Ramblings of a 26 year old with 13 beers

If everyone is equal then no one deserves more than the next man in line. Right? What does deserve mean? Is everyone equal from birth? Are some created better than others? Are some born with more? Is this the difference? What is more? Is it more money? More Love? How do you quantify Love? What is it? Does it make you better? The questions of our Country.

Are these questions that can be answered? If so, why are they questions to this day? Did we create a country based on the rich getting richer? Is taking more from the rich to make someone with less better off the right thing to do? Is this fair? Thomas Sowell. Constrained vs. Unconstrained. Does the pie grow larger—Yes? Is it at the expense of other people in distant lands? I think not. Why does a diamond have value? People. Economy. Wants… Needs.

Have we been lied to? By whom? Why do we pay property taxes? Whose land is this? Free American’s… The Government’s. Are Republicans the party of the rich or the party of freedom from the powerful? Are Democrats the party of equality or theft? Is Robin Hood a noble goal?  Can corporations be too powerful? Limitations would limit us. Non-regulation could turn us over to them. Who decides the happy mediums? Why?

Just wondering.

Maybe too much practice... but I'm young. :)

I wish I had a good response to your second sentence.

OK. Nobody is equal. We all have our particular combination of talents, virtues and faults. We deserve only to be left alone. Everything else must be earned.

Yea, that was a pretty canned response. Forgive me. I'm in sales.

Never listened to Dylan much. Those are pretty awesome lyrics. Thanks for passing them on.

I wasn't trying to be flippant. I just look at some of my friends that work 70 or 80 hours a week and realize that even though I don't have all the material things they do I have a lot more freedom to do the things I really enjoy, like bailing out of work a few hours early to go hunting with my dad or taking off and heading to Vegas when one of my friends has a couple of days in a row off. I'm not saying money is a bad thing but it is definitely not the most important thing. And no, I don't have a trust fund.

anyone who suggests a simple answer to you is wrong. Life's complicated.

Didn't take it that way. I was responding to your last sentence-- And if I only asked questions I knew the answers to I wouldn't know s*#t. Made too much sense not to respond to.

I live a mile from the Atlantic and we do a lot of fishing. Couldn't agree more. Nothing better than spending a day with your pop on the water or in a stand.

Wrong, 'deserve' has more than one meaning so the question is a bit faulty, no everyone's equal about nine months or so before that in terms of intrinsic value, no in terms of intrinsic value, depends what the 'more' is, depends who you ask and where their priorities lie, ditto, ditto, ditto, there are different kinds of love depending on the relationship in question and different amounts of love, vague, depends what 'better' is first determined to be. Answers of my person.

Sure, we aren't born with all the answers and we don't have to accept them when we discover them, not primarily as far as I can tell, no, no, he seems pretty cool from what little I know, dunno about that one, 100% stays 100% but what that 100% represents doesn't, it has that potential, okay, because we place value on it, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Yes and no, everyone lies but not everything is a lie, to have something to do until death rolls around, humankind's , yes, perhaps (though probably not), idealistically the latter but realistically sometimes the former (though that's often blown far out of proportion), theft, keep in mind that Robin Hood was a person taking back from the corrupt government not the corrupt government taking from citizens while making a promise of creating some utopia, possibly, possibly, possibly, the very purpose of the government, because that's the reason the government exists in the first place: to secure our rights.

I enjoyed your "rant". It is much more intelligent than most. One thing about the truth, it is much more interesting than lies!

The questions I like are "to whom do I owe loyalty? Why? By whom am I owed loyalty? What does 'duty' mean?".

I enjoyed your stuff, keep it up!

Ha Ha. Now we know liberals come from discussions like this.

"That depends on what the definition of 'is' is"!!

I couldn't agree more, Pops and I head to Ohio the day after Thanksgiving for some good old fashioned whitetail hunting and we are also taking off in about three hours to go out and bag some quail. I really need to hit the bed but this thread is to good to walk away from right now.
