Article reports on the NAACP's newest race hoax/boycott/ extortion campaign against the hospitality industry. The target du jour: the Adam's Mark Hotel chain. Black guests from Black College Reunion weekends 1999 and 2000 conspired with the state and national NAACP, with the abettance of Florida AG Bob Butterworth and the federal Department of Justice, to launch extortionary lawsuits which Adam's Mark settled at a momentary cost of $5 million.
If you own a business, board it up, hire a guard and take a vacation.
It should renamed "Black Felon Reunion" ...cause that is exactly what it is!
Even among the some 175,000 free blacks in America in 1830, approximately 4,000 of them owned some 12,600 other blacks.
By about 1860, the percentage of black freedmen who were slaveowners had risen dramatically, to 71.3 percent in South Carolina. However, the number of slaves held by black slaveowners actually fell, as the largest owners died off, migrated north, or reduced their number of slaves. In a similar vein, I just got back from a Christmas visit to Tampa, my hometown. I was surprised and disappointed to see the Tampa Bay Mall closed....and then doubly dismayed to hear why. Since I wasn't there for the action, can somebody from Tampa fill me in?
Two years ago, I was at an academic conference in Chicago. I went to dinner with an academic with whom I was friendly, and a professor girlfriend of hers. After dinner, I was chatting alone with Prof #2, who was from the Pacific Northwest, and she mentioned the Black Tipping Issue. She said that her teenage son had gone to a restaurant with black friends who had refused to tip the waitress, even though the service had been good. The son, not wanting to see the waitress screwed, tipped on behalf of his black friends. The prof wanted to know if the stereotype (of non-tipping black customers) was true. I told her that, as far as I knew, it was.
Why, indeed?! The suspense is killing me!

Because of that experience, the hotel beefed up its security in 1999 as never before.
The previous year, 1998, hotel managers said they felt besieged by Black College Reunion guests. There was a stabbing on the 11th floor, 11 aggravated assaults on the upper floors, a major fight in the lobby and more than 25 break-ins in the parking lot. Drug use was rampant in the rooms, with some maids refusing to fight their way through marijuana smoke. Two employees were threatened at gunpoint, and sheriff's deputies took five guns from the rooms. Several rooms were damaged, the stairwells were sullied with trash and urine, and a naked woman was left unconscious on the front drive.

I have it on good authority that this is also true in the cosmetology business. It's been said that most ill-tempered threats of litigation come from blacks - usually for some ludicrous variant of perceived racism - as do excessive demands that vastly exceed the norm. Of course, there is little to no tip in most cases.
I'm black, I tip, and there's no real excuse for anyone who doesn't. At the same time, I would hope you can refrain from stereotyping all blacks as "non-tippers," even if most appear to be. (mrustow, why did the subject come up in the first place?)
I think that sums it up pretty nicely. They live to intimidate and get things for free because they have learned they can get away with it.
Yup,and don't even think about trying to go out in public places by yourself without getting physically attacked if you are white. The police will do nothing because they are afraid of being called racists.
