Now That Bush Has Sold Us Out... What are we going to do about it? (vanity)

Posted on 03/13/2002 2:47:41 PM PST by Michael2001

Well I'm mad and I'm angry, and maybe that's why I can't think of an appropriate response. While all of us were prasing him for how he was dealing with the war on terror, Bush passes this Amnesty Bill, something that not even the sneaky Bill Clinton would do. This is one of the worse Bills to pass through Congress, it will hurt us in many ways, and ten years from now we will still be feeling it's effects.

Bush has, without a doubt in my mind, sold us out for the Hispanic vote. He sold us out because he can take our vote for granted (who will we vote for Al Gore?). Is he wrong? What do we do when the Republicans stop looking out for our interests? Is it time for a new party, or do we work within the party and try to root out the Republicans In Name Only (of which there are many)?

We start running and supporting our own people within the GOP. Kick the RINO's out. A new party will only elect the democrats, as we have been shown time and again.

Anything is better than those damn Rinos.

Ya, can you imagine me in office? Positively frightening.

Speaking of democrats, why did a near-majority of them support a bill that so many conservatives seem to be quite comfortable with? Strikes me as a bit of an oxymoron.

You know quite well that I am speaking of his lack of intelligent and repectful debate. He laughs and ridicules just like the democrats do.

Yo can attempt to spin my comment, but the truth remains-some would rather make ridiculous statements instead of engaging in reasonable discussion.

The question is, do we let our demand for perfect legislation cause us to walk away from legislation that is still decent, IMO, even if it's not exactly what we want?

Don't you see? Yes! Yes! We must! Then, when we are outraged again, we will throw those b@$t@rd$ out, and then the next ones and then the next ones. Because, of course, whoever we vote for will win. If not, we'll send a message. That's it, a great big message!!!

Well, it's definitely not a fix. And it's not a bandaid either. I don't think it was intended to be either. Looks to me like all they are doing is temporarily extending some deadline so people can get their forms processed.

"Did you read 245i and the underlying law?

Because if you didn't the one issue line to throw Bush from the train starts way over there."

I totally agree - line up everyone! This is EXACTLY what the Dems want you to do...so follow, like good little "sound bite sheep."

I don't know where you got the quote for your post, but it wasn't mine. Feel free to quote my post in the future if you like.

Yes, yes I know all about the Libertarian Paradise. No war, no borders, no laws (well, minimal laws, but why spoil the parallels?) no poverty, no disease and, of course, this will happen the one day that Emperor Harry Browne (who needs a Congress to go arguing over the details, right?) takes office.

But, there are those open borders. Oh, yes, and that rigid nonaggression policy. It seems to be: If you get attacked, apologize.

Or something like that.

That'd be great ---I'd love to see another showdown like Reagan had with them ---when he demanded and got his microphone time, they tried to rob him but he stood up to them. Greatest President this country ever had.

Open borders is why I won't vote for the Libertarians.

Wait until your job is taken due to the influence of illegals. See how you feel then.

Nobody in their right mind wants a civil insurrection, but Americans will only allow the govt to push them so far. I don't know where the limit is , but it's got to be close. Just look at the responses of otherwise stalwart Republicans on this thread.<p.I voted for Bush also, and now I sincerely regret it.

I didn't include those in their right mind, just the keyboard revolutionaries.

I do not supprot this bill. Please name the FReepers that do. All I see is FReepers that aren't willing to get a Democrat elected because the don't like the bill. And their's another group of FReepers who don't care if a Dem is elected in 04.

An attempt to gain the Chicano/Hispanic vote?

I don't even think it's that. I think Bush is catering to Fox for other reasons and it bothers me what those other reasons might be. Some Mexican told me today that the previous president of Mexico --Salinas de Gotari (the one whose brother in law was murdered by his brother in some kind of drug lord thing) is back in Mexico and that he had helped put Fox into office. Fox also denied asylum to those 21 Cubans recently ---and even had Castro send in his police force after them, so I don't think Fox is on the side of good or freedom at all.
