I wonder if Al Gore could have gotten away with the stuff GWB has. The amnesty bill, I doubt it. The curtailment of civil liberties that has sailed throuh Congress, I doubt it. At least with Gore we would have had an opposition. With GWB we have liberalism with no opposition. BTW - I voted for GWB.

Didn't we here at FreeRepublic struggle to understand how all these Democrats could still back Bill Clinton after what he did?

Yes, we did. What's your point?

I didn't struggle to understand how all the RATs could still back BC after what he did-- I struggled to believe that the Senate Majority didn't want the dirt of the scandal dumped on them-- .

Hey all you Bush apologists out there -- twist and turn all you want -- this decision represents nothing less than suicide for the GOP.

Anyone care to lay odds on which candidate carries the hispanic vote in the next election, Bush or the democrat?

I didn't think so.

Uh-huh. And Libertarians themselves have never even thought of using drugs.

It is likely that less than 5M will receive legal status

That's just not true.

Right. There ARE two sides. Unfortunately, ours is the one with no spines.

Bump. Against my better judgment, I voted for GWB myself. What a waste.

I tell you what, Bush shouldn't do such a terrible thing like deal with a political reality and actually make the GOP a true majority party.

I waited eight years for the Reps to stand up to liberals. I helped them get the Presidency, the Congress and the Senate and what did they do with it? Nothing. They let the Senate go to the Democrats without a vote. They have allowed Daeschle to set the agenda for this country. They have allowed the Clintonites to not just stay out of jail but also to stay in power and gum up the works. What did I get for my vote?

Tsk; merely paraphrasing. I see you lose concepts with your blinders held intently over your eyes while walking the straight and narrow political mantra of the government. The government created your quote, the quote wasn't by a proud and free people. You remind me of someone asking government for freedom.

Question?

Reagan gave amnesty to over 1 million "illegal" Mexicans
Reagan doubled the size of the federal Gov't in his 8 years.
Reagan snubber the military and didn't give any pay raise one year.
Reagan expanded welfare when he peomised to cut it
Reagan said we spend $4000 on welfare admin for each person but he increased this to $7000

Do you people still consider Reagan a good conservative? I bet you do !

Vote for Hillary-Dashle
The sooner we get to the elitist controlled socialist one world utopia, the sooner it will prove unworkable.

When the check does not come, the electricity does not reach the bulb, the water does not flow thru the tap,the food does not reach the market, when only fools accept fiat money, that is the day freedom will have its chance.

Government will be seen as the evil beast that it is,hopefully this monster will be caged stripped of its power and, forever more, clipped and pruned to insure it does not flourish.

The sooner it gets to the streets, for me,the better.

No that is just one paragraph of the legislation. Now I could give you the link but I will give you the title and you can look up the thread, that is IF you are intellectually honest enough to read it the entire thing.

House Again Passes Border and Visa Security Legislation

The trouble is that there are many non-hard working Mexicans who milk the system. There are also a great number of the hard working ones who don't and never will consider themselves to be American. You are evidently a member of the group who prompted my Russian immigrant friend to say "this isn't a country it is just a place set up for work".

You can't assume the illegals from Mexico intend to vote like the Cuban Americans. Or like the long time legal Hispanics of the SW.

You're right about that, but I can tell you they will have no reason at all to vote GOP if the next Rat president does this instead of Bush.

This takes away the Rat propaganda to the latins "they don't care about you etc."

This sucks, but it is better than losing the latin vote by a 10 to 1 margin like we do with the blacks.

The GOP freed the slaves but lost the propaganda war after the 60's with terrible results.

We don't need to make the same mistake twice.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Reagan was president roughly two decades ago. He was operating in a very different historical context.

LMAO, with all those that "voted for Bush" but never will again, he should have won the popular vote by 60%. Geeze, give it a rest.
