Ted Maher -- former Special Forces; Neonatal Intensive Care nurse
American Green Beret veteran and accomplished neonatal nurse Ted Maher has now been held 537 days without trial in Monaco's prison on trumped-up and false charges -- charges of causing the deaths of billionaire banker Edmond Safra and Ted's fellow nurse, Vivian Torrente on December 3, 1999. In truth, Ted fought valiantly against two armed, masked intruders to defend Edmond and Vivian and save their lives. During the struggle, Ted suffered severe knife wounds that required one hundred staples to close.
Billionaire banker Edmond Safra was cooperating with the FBI, who was investigating the IMF/Russian loans. Needing a convenient scapegoat for the murder of Safra, Monaco police subjected Ted to three days of grueling torture designed to extort a false confession from him. (see description in "BASIC TIMELINE" in Thread 1 - http://206.112.97.70/forum/a3ad8b097272d.htm ).
Monaco continues to hold Ted incommunicado, preventing him from sending or receiving mail. In fact, they restrict his communication with his family to one telephone call a week. This call is only allowed to last a few minutes and is always monitored closely to prevent any discussion of the case. Ted is forced by his jailers to take a psychotropic medication and is regularly "interrogated" by the Monaco judge -- Patricia Richet. Reports have been received that Judge Richet is a violent person who has displayed unstable behavior in the past. She allegedly has a history of assaulting a fellow judge, putting him in the hospital for a week. She also tears up letters from Ted's children in front of Ted rather than let him read them.
Hundreds of family, friends, work associates, parents of patients, and Army veterans who served with Ted have vouched for him as being a loyal husband, loving father, and an exemplary professional of great skill and compassion. Ted has also been defended by then-chairman of the House International Relations Committee Ben Gilman and Ted's congresswoman Sue Kelly, who have written Prince Rainier III of Monaco on Ted's behalf. Monaco has no evidence of any crime by Ted; they have no witnesses and no credible case against him. Even worse, Monaco has planted false evidence and suppressed vast amounts of exculpatory evidence -- even passing a special Monaco law that enables them to hold Ted four years without trial.
The Geneva prosecutor has said that Safra was killed for his cooperation with the FBI regarding the laundering through Safra's Republic National Bank of $4.8 billion in IMF loans to Russia.
Regardless of the reason "why," it is obvious that Ted Maher is a scapegoat for a murder by others. We are working to obtain his release and to correct the grave injustice being done to an American Green beret veteran and medical professional.
Ted Maher -- a giver of life, not a taker -- needs our help.

Prince Rainier III fled on the royal helicopter at news of Safra's death.
It is assumed he took Albert and Stephanie with him.
Director of juridical services Patrice Davost lies about abuse to Ted and violation of interrogation law.
Prosecutor Daniel Serdet lies of Ted's drug use, psychological state, actions, motives, statements.
Judge d'instruction Patricia Richet screamed at Ted, "I know you will be found guilty!", tore up letters from his children, embraced Lily at the reenactment, was reupped for obedience to the police, but fled suddenly to disappear in Paris--without explanation. She was witnessed attacking the current judge Hullin, putting him in hospital for a week. (Two witnesses and numbers on file.)
Chief inspector Olivier Jude was put through the ten-week FBI National Academy March, 1999, before overseeing the three-day beat of Ted and the kidnapping of Ted's wife, theft of her passport, threats on Ted's wife and children. [Did Jude's presence in Quantico coincide with the clandestine photographing and taping of Ted's children? Recall that the chief prosecutor of Geneva said at the time that Safra was killed for cooperating with the FBI in the laundering of $4.8 billion in IMF loans to Russia through Safra's Republic Bank.]
Monaco appellate court refused to dismiss case against Ted which was based on interrogation by a magistrate without attorney present--although two other such cases were dismissed in same year.
Monaco supreme court to try Ted for arson--though fire report cites multiple sources of ignition, and sudden conflagration an hour after Ted was in hospital--and despite lack of intent.
Monaco fireman went to put out Ted's tiny wastebasket fire and was stopped--showing the wastebasket fire was not the cause of the massive blaze.
Monaco policeman did not aid Safra although having ample time and opportunity to do so--asked why he did not save Safra's life, the policeman replied, "Sometimes things happen."
Monaco pre-tend de-fender Donald Manasse insists Ted stick to the false confession and NOT tell the truth, thus serving the official coverup.
Monaco courts kept Michael Griffith from participating in the appeals hearing--and will do so at the trial, despite assurances to the contrary.
Monaco guards did not respond when a man was dying in Ted's section of the prison--so Ted saved his life with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Lily changed Edmond's will, changed their citizenship, had him cremated and buried in Switzerland, was shown to have sent the security team away, is more likely than Edmond to have disconnected the burglar alarm, paid $100,000 confidentiality agreement to Sonia who penciled Ted and Vivian into the schedule at the last minute, and was allegedly the last to have spoken with Edmond and Vivian.
Lily paid Ireneo Torrent $2,000,000 in the death of Vivian from personal funds--not waiting for insurance--which would have investigated before paying--Why did she not want an investigation? What is there to hide if the truth is as she says?
But the truth is not as Monaco says.

December 3, 1999, Ted defended Edmond Safra and Vivian Torrent, receiving severe knife wounds.
He could not bring the police by phone, so gave his phone to Vivian.
He then raised the fire department by holding a candle in a wastebasket under a detector.
The story he told of two intruders stood--
But then, Monaco police put the three-day beat on him:
Consul Patricia Feitz saw his facial bruising.
He had been held in four-point restraint, catheterized, sleep-deprived, threatened with his wife's indefinite detention, strip-searching and torture,
as police made threats on their children displaying secretly taken photos of them in their rural backyard, and secretly recorded tapes of their voices.
After Ted signed the false confession, he told the Consul, "What I do I do for the safety of my family."
The pre-tend de-fender appointed by Monaco insisted Ted stick to the false confession,
though the hospital drug test disproved it, and the fire report contradicted it,
and the police "lost" their emergency call tapes for that night,
and Lily's actions are a catalog of wonder: changed Edmond's will, changed their nationality effective that day, sent the huge security team away, disconnected the burglar alarm, paid 100K to her nursing supervisor who penciled in the patsies at the last minute. . . .
The world press took its cue from the lying prosecutor Daniel Serdet (e.g., his drug slander refuted by hospital test).
Time.com's Thomas Sancton's libelous trash typifies the sum contribution of a lazy and gullible media.
Ted's congresswoman wrote the Prince, but after Ben Gilman was rotated off House International Relations Committee chair, Ted lost his sole strong champion in Congress.
The State Department has shuffled paper, sent out form letters to family and friends, and can barely manage a trip once a month to deliver the small funds Ted's wife sends for his personal needs--prisoners in Monaco pay for toilet paper, soap, razor, etc.
Ted's pre-tend defenders Georges Blot and Donald Manasse have let three years pass without demanding the cell phone records, the police tapes, the "missing" security video tapes, thorough deposition of the contradictory paid-agent of Lily, Sonia, or Lily herself who figures so prominently and gained so handsomely--
and is being sued for helping to kidnap Heidi and steal her passport for the police.
Marseilles is on its third consulate: Patricia Feitz, Martha Melzow, Ellen B. Thorburn. They are merely marking time.
Congress is peopled with politicians.
There is no public outcry because there has been no money for a publicist.
Dominick Dunne has had the high-profile say and used it to effect:
Vanity Fair and Larry King Live have spread his investigation and belief in Ted.
Now Monaco must continue to violate its own law by wrongly holding Ted, interfering with his correspondence to attorney, and framing him on false charges:
He did not set the multiple points of ignition nor the sudden conflagration at 6 a.m., an hour after he was rushed to the hospital. But law is something Monaco makes up as it requires.
And an innocent American citizen in a foreign jail doesn't have three congressman plus Scott Ritter as advocates:
To warrant that, you have to be Saddam Hussein.
Honorable Green Beret veterans, loyal husbands, loving fathers, compassionate and accomplished medical professionals have dropped in stock market value.
But new advocates present themselves at odd times, without herald or fail.
