Ted Maher -- former Special Forces; Neonatal Intensive Care nurse
American Green Beret veteran and accomplished neonatal nurse Ted Maher has now been held 537 days without trial in Monaco's prison on trumped-up and false charges -- charges of causing the deaths of billionaire banker Edmond Safra and Ted's fellow nurse, Vivian Torrente on December 3, 1999. In truth, Ted fought valiantly against two armed, masked intruders to defend Edmond and Vivian and save their lives. During the struggle, Ted suffered severe knife wounds that required one hundred staples to close.
Billionaire banker Edmond Safra was cooperating with the FBI, who was investigating the IMF/Russian loans. Needing a convenient scapegoat for the murder of Safra, Monaco police subjected Ted to three days of grueling torture designed to extort a false confession from him. (see description in "BASIC TIMELINE" in Thread 1 - http://206.112.97.70/forum/a3ad8b097272d.htm ).
Monaco continues to hold Ted incommunicado, preventing him from sending or receiving mail. In fact, they restrict his communication with his family to one telephone call a week. This call is only allowed to last a few minutes and is always monitored closely to prevent any discussion of the case. Ted is forced by his jailers to take a psychotropic medication and is regularly "interrogated" by the Monaco judge -- Patricia Richet. Reports have been received that Judge Richet is a violent person who has displayed unstable behavior in the past. She allegedly has a history of assaulting a fellow judge, putting him in the hospital for a week. She also tears up letters from Ted's children in front of Ted rather than let him read them.
Hundreds of family, friends, work associates, parents of patients, and Army veterans who served with Ted have vouched for him as being a loyal husband, loving father, and an exemplary professional of great skill and compassion. Ted has also been defended by then-chairman of the House International Relations Committee Ben Gilman and Ted's congresswoman Sue Kelly, who have written Prince Rainier III of Monaco on Ted's behalf. Monaco has no evidence of any crime by Ted; they have no witnesses and no credible case against him. Even worse, Monaco has planted false evidence and suppressed vast amounts of exculpatory evidence -- even passing a special Monaco law that enables them to hold Ted four years without trial.
The Geneva prosecutor has said that Safra was killed for his cooperation with the FBI regarding the laundering through Safra's Republic National Bank of $4.8 billion in IMF loans to Russia.
Regardless of the reason "why," it is obvious that Ted Maher is a scapegoat for a murder by others. We are working to obtain his release and to correct the grave injustice being done to an American Green beret veteran and medical professional.
Ted Maher -- a giver of life, not a taker -- needs our help.

Yes, of course; strike while the metal's hot.
Do so because hope is at its lowest & as a result, motivation at its highest.
The fact Monaco has essentially left Ted, his family, and Ted's supporters no real hope for justice??
Monaco's indifference & corruption has the effect of providing the fuel to fire our passion & conviction to levels thought not possible.
Monaco's mistake.
Same mistake any bully makes when they choose to underestimate their foe; &, for many of the same reasons.
"We need to inform America PRIOR to the trial! Doing it after will have no effect like it would during or just prior. Maybe that way public outcry will force our gov't into ACTION!"
I respectfully suggest we get that book done asap, yes; but, because Ted needs that story published & the public be damned.
The public's support will always be gladly accepted, no argumant; however, we'll not count on a fickle form without substance public to do what's right.
We're betting on the public becoming outraged by an injustice committed upon an innocent man.
We're just not counting on that happening; as, doing so is a fool's bet which simply begs for one's heart to be broken.
Naturally, the sooner a book's completed, the better Ted's chances will become of being released: trial or no trial, government intervention or no government intervention.
If Monaco dares jail Ted following a trial which mocks all that's decent & fair?
Fine; it isn't as if we hadn't anticipated Monaco would do precisely that, anyway.
Only serves to buttresses the book's alligations, based upon the facts of the case Monaco will not permit entered into evidence on behalf of Ted's defence.
Just makes for that much more egg *matter* on Monaco's face while making a martyr of Ted Maher & painting Monaco the monster they are.
Illustrates exactly the relationship that exists between Ted Maher & Monaco, rather well.
That is what a book would accomplish.
Get that outline completed & book written; preferrably, now.

Monaco spent three days beating a false confession from Ted--
U.S. Consul in Marseilles Patricia Feitz saw the bruising to Ted's face--
Monaco director of juridical affairs Patrice Davost told Sue Kelly it was from rolling onto the mint they put on Ted's pillow--
The appellate document noted bruising to Ted's occipital--proving his story of having been hit on the back of the head by the intruders--
The document noted the bruising of his toes--as though broken with a hammer by boisterous fellows with an agenda--
The fire report noted multiple points of ignition (Ted never admitted to any of that)--
and a "sudden conflagration at 6 a.m."--an hour after Ted was rushed to the hospital.
Now Monaco has delayed a show trial for three years, stomping on its own law to keep Ted in prison--
even though Monaco questioned Ted without attorney present--
and Monaco has blocked his mail, even interfering with his mail to his attorney--
Judge Patricia Richet tore up letters from his children, screaming, "I know you will be found guilty!"--
Imagine if that had happened in a civilized country instead of Monaco the men's restroom of the European bus station.
So Louis XIV thinks he can make it go away with a three-hour Stalinesque-Kafkaesque show trial and put Ted away for life--
But the autopsy shows Vivian was strangled--and the autopsy for Edmond is suspect--no wonder Lily had him cremated.
Release Ted, Monaco, as it's the only way to recoup your tourist losses.

She embraced Lily at the "reenactment" [farcical]
She beat Judge Hullin putting him in the hospital for a week according to two witnesses [names and numbers recorded].
Then she ran off to Paris without explanation leaving the case to dangle and delay.
Monaco is a Medieval throwback where evidence is suppressed and the innocent are forced to confess.
No wonder no one wants to go there.

Monaco ducked from the first, and has been ducking for three years.
First, it had to beat and threaten to extort Ted's signature on its false confession.
Then it had to keep Ted in isolation without mail or phone for three years.
It had to suppress or fabricate evidence, because the real evidence exonerated Ted.
It had to delay, delay, delay for three years--
And when Ted has a real lawyer with real experts to give him a fighting chance--
Monaco will delay again, to throw them off balance and cost them money--
Cancelled flights and reservations cannot be borne indefinitely--
Monaco is the home team, cheating as usual, framing a patsy, for the murder of an inconvenient billionaire--
Monaco tips its hand, showing it has no cards--
