Most Liberal movie of the past six months: John Q. What a load of propaganda, despite a fine performance by Denzel Washington

---------------------------------

Well, one doesn't have to be a liberal to rail against greedy HMO's, but I agree with you that the flick was heavy-handed, overblown propaganda for the most part.

Failsafe?

Failsafe was pretty a-political.

Grapes of Wrath may be the most liberal movie of all time

That's where I learned that faith in G-d, hard work, and intestinal fortitude were not nearly enough to sustain a family in America. You will never truly be free to lead a life of dignity until the government takes you in and protects you from all those cruel capitalist animals that are just waiting to destroy your life.

That's the lesson we children were supposed to learn from that so called "classic" American novel. It was a few years before I began to see that trash for what it really is, classic communist propaganda. It's a good thing public school comes to an end just in time to be able to think for yourself, or I'd be doomed to a leftist anti-American mindset my entire life.

You know what movie that I LOVE, but is really liberal?? "Dave" with Kevin Kline. He plays a guy standing in for the president, and the big things he does are saving a homeless shelter and creating a program to give everyone in america a job.

Definitely socialist ideology at its best. TOo bad I love Kevin Kline enough to love the film. ;-)

The very first movie I remember seeing was at a drive-in...my parents took me to see "Patton." I do not remember how old I was, but it made quite the impression.

the last drive-in I went to was while I was stationed at 29 Palms, CA. - saw "Christine", drank beer, and later, when I heard it had closed, lamented the passing of another American institution.

Come on, that was and is one of the best play's on the cold war. Got to lighten-up. Hayden's comment that women desire his "essence" but he denies them his "precious bodily fluids". George C's overboard Gen.Turgidson "but they'll see the Big Board". Sellers " Mein Fuerer I can walk". Satire and truth at it's Best!!!

Some movie I saw that had Jane Fonda in it. I forgot its name, but it had to do with some insane nun who killed her illegitimate newborn, and I thought it was the biggest single piece of Hollywood liberal phony propaganda drivel I'd ever seen put on celluloid. There's one especially repulsive scene where the nun goes apesh**, slits her wrists and Fonda (playing a shrink) restrains her and repeatedly tells her it's OK to hate God. I'm an agnostic, and even *I* found this offensive.

I'm missing something here---I thought "12 angry men" was about dealing with the facts in a trial instead of dealing with emotions.....how is it liberal??

You apparently are missing something, because the movie is exactly the opposite of that. Have you seen it?

The 12 angry men are members of a jury led by Henry Fonda, who turns out to be more of a defense attorney for the accused rather than a jurist, complete with inventing excuses and theories that were never even presented by the defense. At one point, they really go over the edge by claiming the one eyewitness, a woman, who claimed she saw the whole incident from her apartment window, had red marks on the side of her nose which HAD to indicate that she wears glasses, therefore she probably wasn't wearing her glasses because it was early in the morning and she was awakened from sleep, so therefore she really is not a reliable witness.

Then there was another scene where they actually tried to act out a dreamed up scenario, I think it was about how long it would take to get from one point to another, etc.

He even went so far as to blame society - oh, it was sickening.

I watched Grapes of Wrath recently. It was a great movie. I don't know if Steinbeck wrote the screenplay or if it was some fellow traveler. But if somebody was looking up from the bottom of the Depression it may have seemed that government was the answer. We know better of course--but we can see how others may have arrived at that conclusion.

Ditto. Also to "Coming Home".

My pick is "The Day After". I almost sued since it was a complete waste of my time. Info to all Vietnmam Vets, this movie was our cold warrior "baby killer" tag. Not on such grand a scale, but it did place a strain on some of our relationships.

I can't understand how you, and your little ilk club, can be members of this forum for as long as you have and still be that damn stupid. By calling you stupid I'm assuming you're not just continually being intellectually dishonest.
