I neither know nor care whether Dr. Strangelove is a liberal movie, because it's definitely one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

"Gee, I wish we had one of those Doomsday machines!"

Absolutely, THE CONTENDER. I saw it with a friend who thought we were going to get kicked out because I was yelling at the screen. It was the biggest piece of pro-Clinton, anti-GOP propaganda ever seen. It was even worse than AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT.

Ah, The Manchurian Candidate, one of my favorite films, despite its potshot at McCarthy. But hey, at least the villain (Angela Landsbury) was a Country Club Communist.

"You couldn't of stopped them, the Army couldn't have stopped them..."

Don't forget Erin Brokovich, for the eco-weenies.

Lethal weapon 4. Man did it suck ass, and I liked the first 2.

Nothing but NRA bashing.

I think Grapes of Wrath may be the most liberal movie of all time or maybe the most influential liberal movie.

------------------------

I have to concur about it being one of the most influential over the lang haul.

I would have to say "The Cider House Rules"

There is one great line in the movie: When Michael Caine's character is grumbling to two of the orphan kids how nobody wants them and how miserable their lives are, the kid played by Toby McGuire says - "Well, it beats the incinerator."

That's about the best anti-abortion argument I've ever heard!

Right before The Contender came out, Torie Gary Oldman came out and denounced the film as "left-wing propaganda" despite the fact he himself had a supporting role.

I don't understand the point of your list but Whatever Happened to Baby Jane is one of the campiest films ever made. Bette Davis did NOT need makeup to look scary in that film. I've written a letter to daddy..."

The most liberal movie of all time was 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'. An old black and white from the 50's.

A being from outer space arrived and told us that we were to stop all the fighting among ourselves. At this point the liberals were swooning! What a wonderful guy!

Then he added if we refused to live in peace he would blow the earth to pieces killing us all!

Seems reasonable!

I'm missing something here---I thought "12 angry men" was about dealing with the facts in a trial instead of dealing with emotions.....how is it liberal??

Yeah, but the message of the film was how when Toby Maguire was young and naive, abortion was wrong. But when he "grew up" and matured, he naturally saw that there was a proper place for abortion in this world.

And don't forget Delroy Lindo's speech "The people that made up them rules don't have to live in this cider house. They don't gotta live by them rules. We gone tear down them rules and make our own rules." It doesn't get more liberal than that, in my mind.

Brazil was clearly about a socialist police state.

Not liberal at all. A horror story about government power and personal insanity.

No, Nine Angry Men; The even more liberal sequel to '12 Angry Men'.

It's about a commie baseball team.

Ok, ok.. 12 Angry Men.

Thx. :D
