We are well on our way towards throwing a rally this town will not soon forget.   Your moral support is most appreciated - your presence more so.  Freepers from around our nation - to include "fly-over" country have arranged to attend - we hope you will too. We are going to make this happen - NO Vietnam war era cancerous infection on our watch.   This time around the "people" will be out there demonstrating what is right about our country. We are getting close to confirming our speakers and will post the rally agenda soonest     Here are details: The DC Chapter of Free Republic and Rally For America are pleased to announce The Patriots Rally for America (the "Rally") to be held in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2002 at the Washington Monument. The Rally will be held on the Northwest Quadrant of the Washington Monument grounds near the intersection of 17th Street, N.W. and Constitution Avenue, N.W. This Rally will be a family-friendly event to show support for America and for the men and women of our Armed Forces. Nationally-known conservative leaders and friends of Free Republic are being invited to speak at the Rally. Patriotic and topical music will set the tone of this most extraordinary rally - please plan on attending. We have set a tentative schedule for the Rally to begin at 11:00 a.m. and end around 3:00 p.m. The Rally will be held rain or shine. We are asking those who attend the Rally to bring American flags, large and small, and signs with messages supporting America and our troops. Please inform your families, friends and co-workers and urge them to attend The Patriots Rally for America on April 20th. This will be a great opportunity to peacefully counter the anti-war rally and march being held the same day in other areas of D.C. by the usual collection of America-hating communist/leftist/anarchist groups. The survival of America is at stake in the war on terrorism. We cannot, and will not, allow the America-hating left to take to the streets unanswered, as happened during Vietnam. The Patriots Rally for America will provide an opportunity for all those who love our country to stand up publicly for America and to support our troops as they fight the war on terrorism. The estimated cost of the Rally for stage, sound system, porta-potties and other expenses is $4,500. Members of the D.C. Chapter are paying for the Rally out of their own pocket augmented by FReeper donations. That said, we could use some help. There was a family from Michigan at the Pentagon today. They listened intently and asked many questions about the Pentagon attack, reconstruction and the memorials accumulating under the saplings on the hillside. They decided to visit D.C. and the Pentagon and then go on to NYC where one of the women had a meeting to attend (she was a lawyer) so they could stand at ground zero before returning home.

I just want to note for the record that the two-month gap in Pentagon vigil reports from Jan. 20 to March 23 does not mean members of the D.C. Chapter weren't there. We were there during those weekends, but we chose not to file reports.

Today's time at the Pentagon was special in a number of ways. I'll post the report in a little while.

There are supposed to be jerks in Lansing having a rally as well. According to some pieceniks on the web there will be a rally. I haven't heard anything in awhile about this. I'll probably find out more next week(A couple of other MSU students are looking into this.) It doesn't say where in Lansing. I'm guessing the Capitol. For some reason, I hope there is one...so I can rip on them. That is so much fun.

WE are organizing to send a delegation from the Lansing area to the April 19-23 demonstrations coming up in D.C. We are also organizing a march in solidarity with these demo's taking place in Lansing Michigan on 4/20.

Oy. I was at MSU during the Gulf War. What a revolting atmosphere it was. ROTC students had to walk to class in groups of no less than four because they were being physically attacked. I remember a rally being held outside my dorm window, and all the shouts coming from the windows of 'get the _uck out of my country'. It was truly ugly. A college campus is not the place to be during a war when you are a Republican.
