Suddenly when it appears that a plan is in the works to do just that, the dems and their hateful cohorts in the media have switched positions on this.
What madness. Time to shut off the spigot of bigotted, biased news, and take some time to smell the flowers. Perhaps when we tune back in the world will have righted itself.
Regarding Sullivan, there is evidence that the Bush crew is making it up as they go along and trying to put a postive spin on everyone of their missteps. Sullivan's words are just giving the Bush can-do-no-wrong junkies unneeded encouragement.
Steyn has some good points, especially about the escapism/denial of the Europeans regarding their future with an ever-expanding Muslim population. Live for today is their mantra. Some, though, as he recognizes, are "scared of their Muslim populations, scared of what perceived slight might turn them from shooting up kosher butchers to shooting up targets of more, shall we say, concern to the general population."
In summary, I didn't get much solace out of either article with respect to our getting tough with terrorists, or what the future holds for us in the Middle East.
Another thing that you are missing is that the Palestinians have the power to effect a peace deal that insures their survival, and Israel doesn't. Israel tried and was spurned. The solution to this matter will be a unilateral one. The PA has seen to that. They have left no alternative. No sane Israeli would believe that the PA and the Palestinians will hew to any peace deal anyway.
I'm sick of hearing that the terrorism that the Israelis face is the same as what happened on 9-11. It is not the same. I agree that it is terrorism, but I also know that the settlements have created a nasty situation that has to be addressed. I don't like the Palestinians, I think they are barbarians, but truth is truth.
Israel needs to build a fence around their country, not hire Palestinians for any jobs what-so-ever, and shoot any Palestinian that comes across the fence, no questions asked.
Hitler was democratically elected too, and in a "fair" election to boot. So was Savadore Allende elected, as was Robert Mugabe and Benito Mussolini.
So, what's your point? Elections are "infallible", so we must accept whatever awful result they usher in - no matter what harm they do to the United States or even the peoples they betray?
Arafat is a murderous thug, fomenting terror against his neighbors and keeping the Palestinian people in bondage and terror within their own borders. He has murdered American diplomats and is aided and abetted by those who continue to plan mass murder of Americans all over the world.
Arafat needs to be replaced as soon as possible - for America, as well as Israel. The happenstance he was "elected" in a sham election some years ago and has made himself essentially President For Life has little to do with it.
We kill termites because they threaten our houses, not because they are knowingly doing us harm. Indeed, Arafat threatens our house as well as Israel, and is knowingly doing us both harm.
Arafat needs a dirt nap, fast. The fact he was "elected" once is immaterial. It is even immaterial to the radical Muslims, although they are proud to loudly shout it as an excuse to keep him in power, doing their bidding. The man is a danger to all around him.
The simple solution is to show the Palestinian people just how much they have had stolen from them by Arafat. Get a peace process in place and get him replaced. Once that is done we don't have to deal with him and neither does Israel and the world gets off the back of Israel.
I am firmly convinced that the only reason the Arab world it so het up about Palestine is because they detest the people and want them out of their own country.
Dicky adds to clear political reason as a Quark adds to atomic mass!
Have concurred with this sentiment in a number of my responses. Most (if not all) of those settlements do nothing but deliberately provoke the Palestinians. I hope that the leadership of Israel will recognize that some day, not withstanding that some of the Jewish religious zealots will cause trouble about any pull back.
