Pope John Paul II addresses a meeting of U.S. cardinals at his private library in the Vatican April 23, 2002. John Paul, apparently formulating his own zero tolerance policy on child abuse by priests, told U.S. Catholic leaders that pedophilia was a crime that had no place in the Church. (Vatican/Reuters)

"The jig is up, boys. Whadda we gonna do now? OK let's spin it. OK, Let's all play dumb, and call a press conference denouncing the violation of inocent young boys, yada, yada, yada, until this thing blows over, all the while stressing the importance of alms for the church, which will expand the possibility for forgiveness, that's it, the forgiveness needed for the clergy."

Yes, but only seriously. And only by Catholics.

Hoo boy, I can't wait to see this thread (if it lasts) after a few hours.

I'm tempted to post a smart_*ss remark, but I'm "not going there".

Have at it, y'all.

Might as well try, at least. Still here. he difference is that no one has attacked anyone else personally. But that could be fixed, of course.

Oh, I wasn't referring to a smart_*ss comment to you directly, just one about the picture.

What the Pope is REALLY saying:

It took a scandal like this for you guys to begin listening to me? You numskulls! Now I don't want to hear anything about married priests. I told you years ago that you had to enforce the rules but you've been letting things slide. You've been letting your liberal nuns run the show in your chancery offices. You've not been diligent in who you have allowed to run your seminaries. Now see the messes you've allowed to fester? When you get back home you are going to have to deal with the non-traditional elements protesting your every move, but you're gonna have to clean it up. The souls of your people are at stake.

Do you know why they raised the urinals at the Vatican?

Why, to keep the Cardinals on their toes of course!

I'm concered about this too and I'm a Protestant. I attend UC Davis and there are already anti-religion messages being circulated.
