Outstanding view of a nesting American Eagle
American Eagle TV ^ | 4-24-02

Ther is the greatest site available on the Web. A Web Cam is aimed right at a nesting American "Bald" Eagle near Minoqua, Wisconsin. You may have seen part of this on Fox and Friends on the Fox News Channel this morning. Go Here to watch the show. Or copy and paste americaneagletv.com into your browser.

The eaglets are due to hatch May 1, and the Web cam will be focused on the parents and the nest until the chicks are grown and have flown away. You need Real Player, which you can download from the site. It also helps to have a fast connection.

There is audio with the picture, so I have been running this behind my other work. Every once in a while I hear a little squawk, and I pop the picture forward and find that the nesting eagle is turning the egg or repositioning herself in the nest. Just a little while ago, her mate flew in with food for her. Both birds remained in the nest for about 5 minutes, and then the hunter flew away in his search for more food.

This should get quite exciting next week, so I hope a lot of people take advantage of this opportunity to watch our great American symbol raise a nest of little ones!

Enjoy!

These two switch off sitting the nest... one comes back and the other will go hunt for awhile. Lately they have been bringing food to each other, but only for the last week or so, maybe expecting the hatchlings will be there and hungry. The Kent cam has been active for three years, and they have produced surviving offspring each year.

Here is the link to the "Notes from Down Under" - the observations and diaries of the couple who own the house under the nest, from the same site. Ooh look quick! - the honey is back! - with some kind of critter to eat it looks like. How nice of him.

Marge Gibson feeds an adult American Eagle before its release last January.

What a wonderful picture! Thanks for sharing. I have gathered all the links people have put on this thread and have sent them to a teacher I know for use in her classroom in Germantown. They are completely "wired". She posts the children's homework assignments on her Web page. I'm sure she will enjoy sharing these links with the kids.

I've set up the EAgle Web Cam on a split screen with Free Republic so that I can browse FR and watch the eagle at the same time. I'm hooked, and it's just great. She just turned the eggs again.

Have you ever visited the Owl Cam website?

The owner has a video camera built into a Barred Owl nest box in Massachusetts.
Great shots for this season, and the past 5 seasons!

The best bird show in my life happened in Oregon one spring when a small trout was plucked out of the the lake by an seagull. The 10"trout was flipping around on the ice and an osprey came down grabbing the trout in mid flip with the right foot. The seagull was scared backwards and fell on it's butt all the while flapping it's wings trying to regain it's footing. When it did finally stand again it looked at the ice the the osprey and just hung its head in despair. My wife and I laughed for ten minutes.

Bumping this in case anyone missed it.
I've been watching all week and it's fascinating. The eggs were due to hatch approx. May 1.....still waiting!
I keep it running in the background all day long.
It seems like the parents are much more active in the past few days. Hopefully, that's a sign it won't be too much longer.
Thanks again for the link.

Yep! I've seen only 1 little gray fuzzball so far. (I only have 56K dialup, so the picture is kinda jumpy)
