DES MOINES, Iowa -- The note found accompanying pipe bombs in rural mailboxes in three Midwestern states reflects a writer who is angry with the government and appears to be either working alone or in a very small group, a former FBI profiler said Saturday.

Eight bombs were found Friday in eastern Iowa and western Illinois, including six that exploded and injured six people. On Saturday, five more bombs appeared in central Nebraska mailboxes; none exploded.

"Attention people ..." the note says. "If the government controls what you want to do, they control what you can do."

We must, as soon as possible, pass national legislation outlawing pipes.

I agree!

He seems to be Fox's in-house FBI consultant and I see him on MSNBC once in awhile. Nothing wrong with augmenting your retirement, I guess. That's better than writing a book-of-lies like one agent i know of.

psychological/psychiatric

Hum, very similar use of slash mark. I also took this to mean semi-college educated, technical bent.

You may be right that there is a bias in the Federal Government to point to "Rightist organizations" However; what if it happens to turn out to be true this time? Will we see threads subtlety defending them? Are we ready to condemn "our own"? Are these pipe bombs in the mail boxes of rural folks a defensible action regardless of who placed them?

More bull from Clint Van Zandt, former FBI deadwood agent who apparently (and falsely) claims to have been on the "team" that "solved" the Unabomber case.

See post #18.

Well, a close reading of the note indicates that the bomber certainly doesn't have a high enough IQ to be able to write very well. I would say he has an average or slightly below average IQ, but well versed In Zen, Tao, etc.

I meant IQ in the sense of his intelligence potential, not how "smart" or "educated" he is. A lot of ignorant people have high IQs.

We simply need to get the Democrats into action and outlaw pipebombs. We can make a difference. We can license pipebombs and get tight control over the items. The consitution was never meant to honor pipebombs. Together, we can make a safer world.

"I would suggest it's either one person or a small, small group of participants, people who have known each other for a long time or shared distrust of the government, tax issues, health issues, land use, grazing rights -- all of these would be consistent."

You're right on the mark...the govmint is painting the perpetrator as a right wing-nut. After carefully reading the entire letter, I think the guy is a foreign born individual.

This is a guy who is in his mid thirties, educated, connected, and probably a Muslim. He's also probably part of a cell of people who are acting under direction. This is a guy who probably chances are has also tried to indoctrinate other people into his own beliefs. He probably freely engages people in political and intellectual conversations. This guy is also very sane. He knows exactly what he is doing, and is in concert with others. How do I know this? I spent an hour and a half talking to an FBI agent today. I told him about a friend of mine who disappeared September 12th. The last conversation we had was about the government. He also made mention of a Terrorist attack being biological. He also talked about how governments use the fear of imprisonment or death to get people to comply. That was the reason why I called them today.

If anyone out there knows someone like I mentioned above, don't hesitate to call the Feds. I did, and pray I'm wrong, and at the same time I pray I'm right. My reasons for both are, if my friend is okay, and didn't do anything like that, that's great. If it turns out that he's responsible, then well, at least they got him before something REALLY bad happened. However since it's now shown up in Nebraska, I'd be willing to bet I'm wrong about him. Unless, it's all part of a cellular body of wackos.

White male (Northern European extraction, either foreign or domestic)
High IQ

Loner, social misfit--his acquaintances and relatives think he's "weird"

At least 30 years old

Educated, but probably not college graduate; largely self-taught

Spends a lot of time at the library or bookstore or computer store, and gets into philosophical arguments with the staff, who are familiar with him from his frequent visits.

Spends time at home almost exclusively on the computer online.

Has received extensive, but not continual, psychological/psychiatric counseling, probably since adolescence.

Not politically active, but has an incoherent but firmly held argument on almost any subject.

Comes from middle-class, "normal" family (except for him).

With a a few modifications to your profile, we've incriminated about 90% of all Freepers! :)

It's really funny how quick the government is set to proclaim this 'domestic-style terrorism', while we hear nothing, I mean nothing, about the anthrax scare.

Look! Why is the automatically termed domestic? As far as I'm concerned, it's Muslims doing this. Just like I think Muslims played a huge part in the OKC bombing.

The guy sounds a lot like the guy or gal who wrote this web site, or someone who reads the same materials, LOL. The layout and hyperactive bold and capitalization used by the author looks like the site was made by someone who is about to come unhinged. Er, I mean, is unhinged. Not to mention the content and conclusions the person has come to.

SOUNDS LIKE THE WRITER OF THIS

See also this page

Uses the term "world authorities," has an affinity for arab conspiracy theories

Also put this quote on there:" Hmmm...Are we really living in a country (the USA) that promotes freedom and free speech around the world? " Which came from ~ Freemasonry Watch 10/8/01

Also had this to say on his or her web site:

Special Message For Those That Understand:
Step outside of The Matrix if you have not already.
If you are already out, do not go back in and 'save' people unless they ask.
Those that understand are already in the light.
and those that don't, need to walk towards it of their own accord.
Those that remain in the darkness by their own choosing, are meant to stay there.
This website is a temporary portal for those looking for the light.
