Well, here I go again, trying to post links to pictures.
The following pictures are ones that Kristinn took on May 4th, at the DC Chapter's fourth annual FReep of the White House Correspondents Association Dinner, held at the Washington Hilton.

Thanks, TGS! Yes, many of us have been waiting with baited breath, so I'm personally going to consider this my private Mother's Day present, LOL!
You guys have so much fun and I just wish I could be there once to join in the party! In the meantime, I'll be content with your great pictures.

Actually, Hitchens wasn't going to the dinner. He lives in the neighborhood and was just stepping out.
He wore a tux when he went to the dinner in 1999 to face his critics after daring to tell the truth during Clinton's impeachment a few months earlier.

Thanks for the pics.
Kristinn, you're gonna have to get better control. Being that close to Dupont Circle, Sauropod was obviously having way too much fun in drag. Jes kiddin' Dave.

I know the Maximum Effective Range of an excuse is zero meters but my son took me to the Busch Race for my birthday (39) ;) in Richmond the night before. We didn't get back to Northern Virginia until way past my bedtime. I was wiped out on Saturday. Hope we can get together for a FReep soon. Looks like you guys had lots of fun.
To: leadpenny
Wow! You're 39 again?! Belated birthday hugs and, since the husband isn't looking, here, take this smooch too.

Thanks for the photos! They are priceless! Wow, what a HANDSOME mod squad.
Re me being "thrilled" to talk to Christopher Hitchens, actually, my boyfriend was thrilled with his signature. He thinks Chris Hitchens is the best. I personally can't say I was thrilled -- I can't figure out WHAT Hitchens' politics are anymore, but he does appear to be sincere. But I thought he was very funny and charming. I'm smiling in that photo because I had disclosed to him that I wanted him to sign the same sign Ann Coulter had signed for my boyfriend ("For Bill -- You have a good girlfriend" -- you can see the text in teh photo). He was hilariously friendly about joining with her thought and writing to Bill again that he had a good girlfriend. On this the left and right agree, so really my Bill has no choice but to accede to the veracity of the point.
Hitchens is no friend of Israel, and there I think he's wrong. But he was dead-on about the Clinton White House. And I totally agree with him for identifying Kissinger as a fraud. Kissenger is/was a total fool. Proof that if you say things in a deep voice, there are always a bunch of fools who will think you're smart.
Good point, suziQ! Yes, Hitchens looks rumpled!! I can't imagine what he would look like in a tux. But if Kristinn says he saw him in one, I believe him!
Sauropod, yes, I know, I know, it's not an In Sync concert. But I only got *2* autographs and the rest of the time I dutifully manned my post. So please forgive me. And I mean how could one NOT get Ann Coulter's photograph? She's like an official God in our household. So here's the deal: you don't mention the autographs, and I won't mention what a poor job you did waxing your legs. :)
In the boy-band vein, I can't help but mischievously note that Matt Drudge in person is very cute. In a photo, he's like OK. But in person he was quite striking. See, if CNN were TRULY interested in just hiring good-looking people, they'd already have snapped up Noonan, Coulter and Drudge. Except those 3, unlike CNN pretty-girl anchors, won't say anything for money.
To: FreeTheHostages
OK, I won't say anything about InSync.
Kid Rock tho is another matter. 'Pod
PS: What's all this about me waxing my legs? My legs are hairy just like a media whore's should be. I wax prolific, not legs. ;-).

I really missed a great event and missed meeting Peggy Noonan. I've been lucky enough to meet Matt Drudge and Ann Coulter before, but I'm thrilled with the Mod Squad picture and that everyone else who attended the freep got to meet them all.
I loved the pictures - thanks for the steady hand and good eye, Kristinn. And thanks tgslTakoma for learning how to post them with links so we could all share the fun.
