2 Rock Guitarists Dead In Last 24 hours...Ratt's Robbin Crosby and The Ramones Dee Dee Ramone

I am posting this thread if anyone cares to add to it. I am a fan of so many different styles of music and the last 24 hours has claimed the lives of 2 men who took part in 2 totally different rock bands during 2 totally different periods of popularity.

The death's of Layne Staley from Alice In Chains was a waste. A total waste of incredible talent, gone forever due to an addiction to heroin. Dee Dee Ramone from the famous punk band The Ramones died of the very same thing a little more than a day ago. Robbin Crosby one of 2 guitarists in the 80s hard rock act RATT died from a long battle with AIDS, attributed from use of a dirty heroin needle.

Robbin was really a great guy. I saw RATT live with him and he was a great performer. He was also responsible for some of the best licks i.e. Round and Round, Wanted Man,Lay It Down, You're In Love,Back For More, Dance, Dance, Dance,Way Cool Jr., What's It Gonna Be? and much more. Hit after hit from Ratt.

He also dated everyone from Heather Locklear (who didn't?), Tawney Kitaen, and various models and actresses. He had such great talent but it all went to hell by way of the needle. A personality to light up a room. Yes a ton of people in here probably have never heard of him and will just call him another heroin junkie rock star who got what he deserved. But Robbin never denied that.

When he was on Geraldo's show about 7 yrs ago...his hands were swollen, he could not even play the guitar anymore and he had been diagnosed with HIV at the time. But he accepted it and also accepted CHRIST. He knew he played russian roulette and lost.

I am not going to gush over this anymore. I just came home from a 12 hour shift at work to have the news sent to me about his passing. I just wanted to recognize his life in some way because his music was something that was just downright...good.

Robbin is up with Christ now and his long and painful battle with AIDS is over.

R.I.P to the both of them.

FYI - he was related to Bing Crosby - hence the last name.

Well, when Stevie Ray Vaughn bit the big one I was bummed out plus a little astonished that he died due to helicopter failure, and not due to some evil combination of drugs and alcohol. Either way, he went out in a blaze of glory. Long live Stevie Ray Vaughn.... hey, it's floodin' down in Texas!

Staley was left undiscovered in his apartment for two weeks before anyone bothered to check on him. I feel sorry that he passed, but I despised his music no matter how harminic. The song "Man in a box" is reprehensible trash.

"Man In The Box"

I'm the man in the box
Buried in my sh!$
Won't you come and save me, save me

[CHORUS]

Feed my eyes, can you sew them shut?
Jesus Christ, deny your maker
He who tries, will be wasted
Feed my eyes now you've sewn them shut

I'm the dog who gets beat
Shove my nose in sh!$ Won't you come and save me, save me

Not to be mean, but you call that "incredible talent???" Pfffiff...What a bunch of losers.

I wished I had a chance to see SRV live. I think I was 12 when he died.

Yep! SRV will always be my "favorite" (?) tragic untimely rock-artist death. The rest of them I couldn't really give a rip about. And that's a cold shot, baby!

Maybe the Taliban infected the poppies with poison and sold the poppies to the KLA in Europe who then smuggled them to England where they were then imported to the USA to kill off rock stars?

Seriously, it is shocking to see all these needless deaths.

It looks like rock musicians should have their own wing in the Darwin Awards Hall of Fame.

Stevie was truly a fine guitar player and a rock and roll loss.

The sad fact is most people never get out from under heroin. It is easy to say life goes on till its your brother or a friend. Yeah life goes on.

Same opinion on 911?

A person could kill themselves by eating a can of Drano if they wanted to. If they are that GD stupid, I say let them do it. It's when they try to kill someone else by making them eat Drano that we should step in.

When I was a teen, Lynyrd Skynyrd was far and away my favorite band. Ronnie Van Zant was already gone by then. I wish he'd survived. He was a cool dude.

Just because life goes on for others, doesn't make it any less sad for those who care about the deceased. No matter how they died.

"IF You Want Blood" -- the seedies' live album with Bon just before the bottle did him in. Just slipping into the cd drive now.

When my wife was pregnant with our son, we used to put he headphones on her belly and give junior a taste of Whole Lotta Rosie and Live Wire and Let There Be Rock. Really used to get the little guy kickin'!

And you know what he listens today at the advanced age of 15? Rap!!!!

His old man's worried. We brought him up straight and decent on Angus and Bon and Rudd, and now he fills the house with Eminem.

What's happening to the younger generation! Lord save us all from degenerate youth.
