How come nobody is saying it: Osama is DEAD!
Me

Posted on 06/09/2002 11:25:21 AM PDT by VaBthang4

I pondered this while lying in my bed this morning.

If he we still alive he would've put the proof out there by now. It isnt that difficult to get a video out in a timely manner.

Anybody have any thoughts?

There is simply no reason to not put out a video declaring his supremacy against the American Military.

Putting out proof isnt gonna ratchet up the hunt. With the exception of maybe Hitler, it is about as hot a Manhunt as there has ever been for one Man.

Putting out proof that he is indeed alive would do wonders for him and Al Qaeda recruitment.

He is dead.

"...there would probably be a drop in war "enthusisasm" if the guy we have pinned this on is dead."

Consider how many Democrats and members of the liberal media have argued that Bush's War on Terrorism is a failute because we haven't found bin Laden yet.

Then, consider how these same Democrats and liberal media would argue if bin Laden were found to be dead. Then, they would claim it is time to declare peace, bring home the troops and slash the defense budget.

Somehow, I believe that an ambiguous status best serves our long-term national interests. And that the Bush administration understands this quite well...

How come nobody is saying it

Maybe nobody is saying it because it isn't true.

He is not rational.

You're quite wrong. Organization alone is proof.
Muslims may not be rational. But that doesn't mean Bin Laden isn't.

Hell, you should practice pondering in bed more often, if a dead Osama is the best you can dream up.

I recall a blurb last fall where the word was put out by the Iranians that he looked terrible on that last video with the bad arm and to stop talking in so many words. My hunch is that he is under the Iranian's control and essentially under a form of house arrest.

Bravo on the poem.

"If he has been captured, we will never know."

No...if we get him...eventually we will put it out.

It's rediculous to think we would never let it out.

Sure inclined to agree with you. But stranger things have happened.

One thing's for sure, if he shows up as a body and then resurrects, head for the hills!!!

If Osama were perhaps killed or found dead by us, our Wise Men may have preferred the mystery of his silence over the creation of another martyr. And what do you do with him if he's found alive. Put him on trial? Better to let his image just slowly fade away. What do you think?

His ego is too HUGE to allow old vids & fake backgrounds to speak for him. He would want to be recognized for the terrorist he is... set something up on Larry K, Cspan, Clinton NN or E! IMHO, he is NLWU. :-0WW (emoticon getting sick after eating too many Slim Jims...)

Are you joking with us or do you really believe this as a possibility? Anything's possible, but I don't think someone like Hitler could have lived 40 years after the war without being noticed.

Yeah, that's what I was kind of thinking. Iran agreed to take him in and hide him, but only if he was quiet. He could also be back in Saudi Arabia in which case neither side would want to admit to where he is. The Saudi Royals take care of their own. They wouldn't give him up and we wouldn't go get him. Many interesting possibilities -- including that he really is dead.

:) I was having fun rhyming Osama with Llama and drama...and bed with head and dead...

Then I thought - I was inspired
I hope Osama IS expired...
and yet, until his corpse is found,
Osama may still be around...

I agree with you. I believe he has been dead for some time and either the rest of Al-Qeada doesn't know becuse they lost communication or, more likely, they have been keeping it secret for reasons of morale.

Somebody give that man a seegar!! Until such time as we have rid this world with all the radicals who are bent on our destruction, I don't care if we ever declare Osama dead. He is the perfect reason to "reform" every despotic government in the region. Anywhere we need to do some housecleaning, there he is again. "Whoops! Missed him again. Sorry folks. But all is not lost, countries A, B, C, and G are now ruled by the people."

Maybe I've been drinking too much koolaid, but I think somebody in our government knows exactly where he is, alive or dead. When it suits our purpose, his rotting carcass will be produced.

We'd look like real idiots if we stated for a fact that Osama is dead ... and then he releases another film to prove us wrong. Let's wait til we KNOW before stating facts.

Somehow maybe the fact that he is just fading away is the really best solution. He is no longer the leader, no longer getting status as an icon, no more appearances - he is in fact nothing.

Yet, we still are beset by terrorists and need to solve that problem. If Bin Laden were declared dead, the media would lull the populace into a false sense of security, the democrats would take money away from defense and put on their feel good programs to buy more votes and all efforts to increase security, investigate, set up measures for protection would be undercut.

Then we again would be sitting targets for an upcoming attack. Better to be in the situation we are in now so that we will not be attacked again.
