Suggestion Box For Regaining Control of Government
Asmodeus | 10 June 2002 | Asmodeus

Posted on 06/10/2002 10:45:40 AM PDT by Asmodeus

To start the ball rolling:

1. Allow politicans running for office to promise whatever they think will help get them elected but require that if elected or re-elected any vote contrary to their campaign promises constitute their automatic resignation effective immediately and permanently.

Examples: Campaign promises not to vote to raise taxes, not to vote for gun control laws, not to vote for any restrictions of freedom of speech or other civil liberties, not to vote for _________________.

2. Make it a felony with forfeiture of all pay and benefits otherwise due, for all government employees, past or present, from the President to the janitors, from the Mayor to the street sweepers, to ever refer to their "years of public service".

Term limits and require the Members of Congress to pay into and retire on social security benifits like the rest of the population.

Well, if you're like me, and believe that it's ultimately the people's responsibility, then you'll simply try to elect people with good character to represent you.

Shouldn't this be a vanity?

1. You cannot vote for any bill etc. that YOU have not read.

2. You must cite the Constitutional authority that authorizes the fed jurisdiction. Yeah, I know they mumble the "commerce clause" but it will be a start.

3. No last minute attachments or riders of any kind. You want something else, write a new bill!

The problem with that particular proposal is that legal fictions can then vote. Would you want Microsoft to dictate who gets into office? Do you want GM running the gov't?

They tried this. Never made it out of committee. You think these people are actually going to vote for and implement changes that LIMIT what they can do?

agree with #1, only taxpayers can vote

also reduce federal revenues by 10% per year for ten years

require balanced budged short of declared war

term limits on congress

sell off gov't owned land

establish 5%investment fund with gov't as benificiary. In due time it will be enough to run the govt without any (or very reduced) taxes.

Since MS is not a "US Citizen", it and other corporations would not be granted the right to vote. Still have to meet the citizenship and age requirements.

OK--I can accept that. What about local elections? Would the resident millionaire run small towns? Even if he/she moved there strictly for that purpose (ie Hillary Clinton)?

1. Make it a felony for Unions to spend Union dues for political purposes. Give enforcement authority to all Federal, state and local prosecutors to put union officials in jail and to obtain injunctions.

2. Make in-kind contributions by labor unions (access to phone banks, employee time) countable against the hard money limits.

3. Use the IRS to go after churches and "non-profits" that are political fronts. Shut down their tax exempt status. Do not exclude black churches from this policy just for pc reasons.

4. De-ghettoize our recent immigrant communities. Eg. Shut down all bilingual education. English only for things like driver's tests, citizenship tests.

5. Start teaching real civics in elementary, middle and high school.

6. Fire all public school teachers and administrators and start over again. No-one gets rehired who has taught environmental or political extremism. Aggressive nationwide voucher program.

7. Reduce all non-defense spending by the feds by 25% per year until it is 25% of its current level.

How would a millionaire run small towns? Everyone knows that thanks to republicans and their tax breaks for their rich friends, millionaires pay virtually no taxes.

1. All judicial decisions must be based upon the original intent of the lawmakers at the time the law was written.

2. Any judge who issues 3 decisions which are eventually overturned as unconstitutional based upon #1 shall be defrocked.

A Neal Boortz listener emailed him a similar suggestion in regardes to a topic that I can't remember.

Basically, the writer suggested a "3 Strike Rule" for politicians. Any politician who votes for legislation that is later determined to be unconstitutional will get a 'strike'. After 3 strikes, they are booted from office and are ineligible to ever run for elected office again.

The strikes would be cumulative for their entire 'career' and from any elected office they hold. If they get a strike while in the state legislature it stays with them if they move to the US House or Senate. If a house member gets elected to the Senate, their strikes from the House carry over.

Of course, getting them to pass such a law is about as likely as the federal budget actually being smaller next year than it is this year.

Repeal the Fourteenth Amendment.

Make citizenship based on parents, not location. If either parent is a citizen, so are you. If neither is, neither are you.

Repeal the Seventeenth Amendment.

Make a stab at repealing the Sixteenth.

We all should go to DC with shovels, backhows, tractors, etc.Lots of earth-moving equipment. Got to Capital building. Dig up the entire perimeter of the lot, scoop up the building and haul it to the Potomac. Have tugs drag it out to sea....shoot anything that tries to jump off and swim for shore. Haul it into international waters then drop the anchor, just to make sure that the tide doesn't bring it back. With any luck it will sink.
