Apparently the whole state of Utah has a problem, then. I just heard from a correspondent of mine in SLC, that the major grocery-store chains are refusing to put out the NE. You can buy one if you go to the service desk.

The family spokesmen are begining to sound off. "No one in the family was interviewed by the NE AT ALL," is what they are saying, adding that NOTHING in that story is true.

I was watching Greta Van Susteren after the story broke and one of the Aunts was asked for the family reaction to the story. Her response was what I would hope I would say - something to the effect of "the story is too absurd to warrant a response." And she refused to elaborate! She was great!

When you and the other scandalmongers are left with nothing but egg on your face, I am going to try my dead-level best not to gloat. It isn't gonna be easy, but I'm NOT GOING TO GLOAT!

Ideas? In the olden days of FR... you know, for those of us who have been around twice as long as you, we used to deal in facts. Alamo Girl's Two Degrees of Separation, a volumous tome about the Clinton scandals, was totally based on fact - not wild eyed speculation and rumor mongering.

I'm not sure being a FReeper has any credibility today as it once did when Bob Barr gave FreeRepublic credit for getting Clinton impeached.

I makes no difference if Mormons, Catholics or whoever are smeared. It still smells!!!

if you had just quietly ignored it, it would have not been an issue

why don't you go relieve your stress and read up on the bus crash that killed 5 today or the mid eastern crisis

Actually, making the NE available only at the service desk probably ensures that they will sell more copies. It prevents people from reading the story for free as they're standing in the check-out line.

BTW, it was my understanding that law enforcement folks were the source for the story......I don't think anyone suggested that it was based on family interviews.

Yes, they're finally making progress in this case. Also just heard that Ricci has been cooperative and has given permission to search his car...but how valuable will that information be if, when the car belonged to Ed Smart, Elizabeth rode in it and left fingerprints, hair, etc.?

Hmmmmmm.....this doesn't sound like the behavior of a guilty man to me. Also, other than the police chief's response during the news conference that Ricci had a "family lawyer," I haven't heard mention of legal counsel. I'm wondering if this is heading down the same path as the Edmunds hype.

That was uncalled for. Everyone here wants Elizabeth found, and alive! Just because people have different views, or theories, or opinions, doesn't make it any less so. You are taking this way too personal, and maybe you need to take a break.

that is exactlly the oppisite of what I heard Banfield say tonite....that the "witness" ricci was uncooperative and hostile....my words....but she gave the impression that he was very angry...

I know he looks like a good suspect..

My opinion? There are people here who don't give one plugged penny if Elizabeth is found, alive or dead, as long as the spectacle continues.

They want to see "good" shown as "bad." They want reputations and good names drugged in the mud.

Yes, the majority here are well-wishers, but this place still reeks of the carrion-birds.

You're wrong! Do you honestly believe that the folks here don't care about Elizabeth? Do you really believe that everything that one portrays themself to be is true? I will pray for the safe return of Elizabeth, but you need to take a break before you burst a vessel...seriously. :)

I just watched the local Fox News, and they quoted the FBI men who questioned Bret Michael Edmunds as saying "They got a lot of good information out of Edmunds, there are some leads to follow up on, and Edmunds will be re-interviewed when he arrives back in Utah later this week. Edmunds was very cooperative, and gave the FBI permission to search and vacuum his car without a warrant."

Albertson's didn't put out the NE (that is a nationwide policy, they also did put out the NE issue that had the autopsy picturs of the Columbine victims/killers.) Smiths (local chain) didn't put the magazines out, Macey's, where I shop, had the NE out but put those black boards in front of them.
