I'll be glad when the SCOTUS puts these Constitution Reformers in their place.

I would prefer the DOJ do this.

I was listening to a news segment in which one of the "ekspurts" stated that the FEC (Federal Elections Committee, I think) has no clue how to interpret and enforce CFR.
I'm not sure how the state parties have become the big soft money recipients...I guess the laws are much "softer" for them now.

I'll be glad when the SCOTUS puts these Constitution Reformers in their place. Did you see the recent rulings that SCOTUS made? Apparently they are ruling by poll now.
Don't count on this bunch to put anyone in their place.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But if they can rule that the First Amendment protects virtual kiddie pornographers then surely they think it protects all political speech. I doubt a poll would have supported the kiddie porn ruling.

how can the RNC subpoena records? I thought subpoenas were issued by Constitutional courts or Congress...

"The RNC requests ask the New Democrat Network whether it believes any of its activities are "corrupt or appear to corrupt" any federal officeholder or candidate and if so, why."
RNC Chairman: Do you, New Democrat Network, believe any of your activities are "corrupt or appear to corrupt" any federal officeholder or candidate and if so, why,"?
New Democrat Network Spokesperson: Why, yes, Mr. RNC Chairman, we DO believe our activities are corrupt. We do not attempt to appear to corrupt the federal officeholder lackeys that lick our boots. Why, you ask? Because we CAN.

Right. Campaign finance laws didn't fix anything. Instead of giving one big check to the national parties, you give 50 smaller checks to the state parties. No net change in the way money is raised or campaigns are conducted. Just another sham, another attempt to pull the wool over our eyes, another attempt by politicians to make it look like they are doing something.
Not that I'm complaining about the effect -- I think you should be able to give money to anyone you want at any time -- but I don't like the shenanigans.

Hah, good luck on supoenas!!
