So they add a HIV muppet. Big deal! Sesame Street is a show about the lives of degenerate scum in an Urban Ghetto!

Look at the cast:

An unbathed green monster, perhaps a mentally messed up Alcoholic, who hates the world, who doesn't work and lives in a garbage can.

There are 2 openly gay lovers that sleep together in the same room, Ernie and Bert!

The place is over run with kids that have no parents! Susan and Gordon are the only married couple on Sesame Street and have no kids! The illegitimately rate must be at least 99%!

Most monsters are green or blue, but Elmo is red! Obviously one of the female monsters was on crack, which caused the red fur and destroyed him mentally, because the kid has been on the air for 12 years and still talks like a 2 year old!

There's the Cookie Monster - obviously a Rastafarian dope smoker with perpetual munches!

There's the Snuffelupogus. Always stopped up! Nasal cavity destroyed from too much of Mr. Hoopers blow!

Inner-Species bestiality marriage between a Pig and a Frog!

And the whole outfit is controlled by a syndicate mastermind, Mr. BIG......Bird!

Why not have a Muppet with leukemia, or diabetes, or asthma? These are diseases children are much more likely to have than AIDS and should be addressed far more often than AIDS. This smacks strongly of a political agenda.

The Muppet with AIDS will not be on the US version of Sesame Street. He is being added by the folks who do the South African version. AIDS is, unfortunately, far more common among children in Africa than in the US.

Perhaps they will be sane and make the muppet a child who got AIDS through mommy's milk or from a blood transfusion.
