Media Press On Bush: CNN's Story About Drought Tries To Recall 1930s Depression-Era Mindset

Crops are drying up. Cows are dying. Forests are burning. Why is there no rain on the Plains? Or the South? Or the East? With nearly half the continental U.S. suffering from extremely dry conditions, some observers say it's the worst dry spell the country has seen in a generation.

Soon they will be doing a biography of Herbert Hoover, and may just make some comparisons to GWB, too.

Brings to mind those words to the Limbo: How low can you go? The mainstream media can go pretty low.

"They are still mad that Gore couldn't steal the election. They are losing relevence."

So, when DID they have relevance?

The media "pile-on" will continue until we attack Iraq.

Face it, this current situation, unlike Afghanistan, is something Bush cannot control. It is the perfect time for the media and Democrats to "take down" Bush a notch or two. They hate him and they see the DNC leadership needing lots of help.

You'll know when they are really serious when they play the old Depression song, "Buddy Can You Spare A Dime." That's what they did to Reagan as soon as he took office, and his budget wasn't due to kick in until October.

Soon they will be doing a biography of Herbert Hoover,

They may be too busy making new shows about the Kennedys. I've seen ads for one on Bobby and one on Jack many times in the past few weeks. It would be interesting to see a correlation between the number of Kennedy shows and election years.

The weather on the American Great Plains has 60 to 90 year cycles of wet and dry and has had these since the last glacial age. Tree rings, plant pollen deposits in the soil strata and other scientific studies show this.

Instead of real science, the left cries the fake global warming models and blames Bush for not embracing the Kyoto Compact (a wealth and job transfer scheme from US to 3rd World). If the left is right, the Mighty Bush can withold the rain, stop the sun and raise the dead!

Uh, we're not at dustbowl stage yet. No one is migrating to find work. We have enough food stockpiled to get through it if crops fail. There are no reports of livestock dying in the pastures from lack of food and water. It's hot, but nowhere close to 1930-1934 (My grandmother swears these were the hottest years of her life).

We haven't gone through a winter yet. Those winters were cold. Coal isn't scarce. In fact, individually, we scarcely use coal anymore. It's mostly for power plants. We have lots of crude stockpiled as well as many more sources for oil.

The stock market is bearish, but it's not LIVING money, for the most part. It's nest eggs (that's still a bad thing). There has not been a run on the banks. No property foreclosures.

There are no free givaways to get people to go to the movies. No one is hoarding sugar, coffee, cotton, or any of the other things which might become scarce.

In fact, people are still spending a lot of money. And the Fed is raising interest rates to ridiculously high levels.

In hate to tell CNN...we're not in a depression. GWB is not Hoover. Get over it.

"A stock market fall (as irrational exuberance gone the other way) ..."

It seems to me that here you are buying RATs propaganda, IMHO, there is no overdrive selling we are just coming to our sense after a long period of Clinton-induced hallucinations.

All GOP media outlets should SCREAM about uncontrolled rule of scam-artist running multitude of Ponzi schemes through the capital markets and DOJ being asleep at the wheel. Note: accounting problems was not the biggest source of loses - it was outrageous Ponzi schemes played left and right with companies who have nothing to hide (because they did not have anything) do you remember globe.com ?

BTW, I had a few arguments with RATs wrt "bring back Clinton": the simple question "do you want another bubble ?" provided an end to the whining with 100% rate of success.

Make that the Fed is NOT raising interest rates...

Jeez, I'm coming down with a cold and not thinking.

At this point we've cleaned out so mny houses of people who lived through the depression...the junk! And I swear, in one house there was 40 pounds of sugar stored in the attic. We threw it out, but sifted it first.

Definitely part of a coordinated media attack, and not just on the national Bush administration. On the MSNBC website the other day was one of the media's specialities: a left wing group's propaganda disguised as a news story. In this case, it was a National Resources Defense Council rant about bad beaches that was treated as unquestioned fact.

And just which state has the most bad beaches according to our friends at the NRDC? Why Florida, of course!

Not to pry, but I don't understand your reference to cleaning out houses of elderly people. Do you mean you've cleaned the houses of deceased elderly relatives?
