and I do think that homosexuals would get a lot more tolerance from society if they were themselves more tolerant of the definition of normalcy

I think you're right, MoscowMike. Don't tell everyone and everyone's children that homosexuality is 'normal' (It isn't.) or that it's 'healthy' (It isn't.). Don't try to get near people's children and influence them in ways parents don't want you to. Don't try to get access in close quarters to people's children (as in the Catholic Church, and as they try to do in Boy Scouts). Don't try to teach gay ideology to parents' kids in school. If all that happened (It won't.), most people would be fine with live-and-let-live.

Here I think is where things get interesting.....

If there is a "gay gene" and it can be identified then women (couples) will be able to learn in utero the future proclivities of their unborn child. If they decide that they do not want a gay child they can then exercise their "right to choose" and abort. (This is NOT an endorsement of abortion...it is a statement based on current legal reality). Within a generation the numbers of gays in America would drop significantly...putting them on the endangerd species list.

How long do you think it would take for the gay-left to declare this sort of abortion as discriminatory...and therefore illegal? The left would be painted into a beautiful lose/lose corner. If an unborn "gay" has rights that we must protect then the whole argument for the woman's "right" to chose, that is that the unborn are not people yet, collapses. Where do the NOW people put themselves? How does the next Dem Senatorial or Presidential candidate keep them both happy?

The beast will devour itself.

"What always amazed me about homosexuals especially in the movies is how they could play love scenes with women ( Rock Hudson etc )"

It always seemed to me that certain actors, among them Rock Hudson, Raymond Burr, and Cary Grant behaved slightly strangely around women characters in their films and t.v. shows and were oddly unconvincing in love scenes, if any. This was long before I ever even heard rumors about those actors. Now, I know why they were unconvincing.

Actually Normal deviancy from the norm is not some word play, but a legitimate statistical concept.

For example, the average height for men is 5'9".
That means guys who are 7 feet tall is a normal deviancy from the norm, as are thoses who are 4'6". Because based on a normal destribution curve you will always have some who deviate from the norm in the extremes. But that these deviancies exist is not unexpected or unnatural.

Born or made, I don't think it makes a difference. As long as they keep it private I don't think it's anybody else's business.

The argument over whether it's nurture versus nature accomplishes nothing. I believe there probably is a genetic component associated with male gayness but of course that's probably a matter of degrees given how that's expressed. There are bisexuals for example that have no problem switch hitting. Is that genetic or environmentally induced? I don't think it matters. The reason it seems to matter is because the argument is made that since one is born that way it's normal and hence the clincher of the argument, the behavior must be acceptable as normal. I think there's probably a genetic predisposition for pedophilia but no one is arguing that it should be an acceptable alternative lifestyle, but give it time. Alcoholism probably involves a similar predisposition but I don't see members of DAMM(drunks against mad mothers) attempting to get lanes set aside on the freeway for their use only. I had a sister who brought forth the proposition that homosexuality couldn't be inborn because then it would have to be accepted as normal. Of course she was often known for such non-sequitars. What Gay activists want us to do is commit similar non-sequitars. And, by any measure they seem to have been quite successful!

Hmm. Perhaps Rock Hudson was not bothered playing a heterosexual love scene because he was secure in his sexuality.

Well then I guess all the rest of the Homosexuals that aren't problemed by playing love scenes with the opposite sex can sign up for the lead parts if Holywood ever decides to do a Bestiality flick since they are so secure with their sexuality

Attractions (such as sexual orientation), on the other hand, can be exclusively involuntary. I understand what you are saying and you make a good distinction; however, attractions, like tastes, can be developed through exposure and experience. Serial murderers were not born that way nor were they probably born with the "attraction" to murder. They probably had certain genetic tendencies that made them more susceptible. Add to that negative life experiences and you have yourself a murderer.

I know that's an extreme example. I am just saying that "attraction" can develop. As far as being "voluntary," I couldn't say. It very well may not be all that voluntary. I cannot identify with it enough to form any judgement whatsoever on that.

Your comparison of inter-racial heterosexual relationships to relationships where men stick their sexual organs in another mans anus is offensive. The notion that inter-racial marriage is as deviant as homosexual sex is laughable. Why don't you flag some black freepers and see what they think of your warped comparision.

Do we know what causes lying?...promiscuity?...addiction?...selfishness? or positives like diligence?...honesty?...monogomy?... on and on and on we could go. All behavior is a combination of genetics, environment and choice. That is no excuse, however.

Exactly. The problem with these "bio-robot" explanations is that they are designed with the purpose of giving people an excuse for bad behavior.

I beg to differ, madg. I don't make the case that all homosexuals have these traits - only that many studies I've seen show that many of them do. On the molestation issue, many, many reports and studies and articles I've seen have shown that a very significant percentage of homosexual men were molested as teenagers. (And most are not going to tell you if that was the case.) And it makes sense. If a young man, as his sexuality is developing and cohering, and before he has significant interaction with girls, is coerced or persuaded or enticed into homosexual activity, it would seem likely that that would influence heavily his further sexual behavior. Neural pathways are set down. Beahavioral patterns are established. And again, I've known some 8 or 9 homosexual men in my life reasonably well, and they all had serious issues with their fathers. Three I know were molested as teenagers.

I can agree with what you said about some men who sound effeminate, but have a wife and kids. We had a couple of high school teachers who fit this description. They had feminine mannerisms, and a feminine way of talking, but were married men with children. There was never any scandal about them and their male students.

Now I realize that some will be in the closet about it, especially since they were in that high school 26 yrs. ago. Coming out of the closet simply wasn't done! If they were gay, most people didn't know about it! There were also female teachers who talked tough, and were scarier than these two male teachers were. We had a female gym teacher who sounded like an old drill sergeant she had a gravely voice! She didn't look masculine, not particularly. But this lady was married with about 5 or 6 kids!

I've had a few teachers who I suspect could have been gay, but I never would have asked anyone about it, even out of curiosity. I didn't know if one of them could be a family member, or aquaintence, it might get back to them, and they would be insulted. They wore plain, almost masculine clothes. Their hair was very, very short, and their voices sounded deep. But at the same time, I've seen women that looked very feminine, sounded feminine, and were known, or suspected lesbians; so you never know!

Howdy

I understand the concepts of probabilities and statistics, but you misappy them.

We do not have a gaussian distribution of sexual orientation with everyone distributed between greater degrees of heterosexuality and greater degrees of homosexuality.

If this were the case your position might have some merit, if this were the case everyone with 51% of their sexual liasons occurring with members of the opposite sex and 49% of their sexual activity occurring with members of the same sex, or were sexual preferences differentiated in this fashion, then the liberal attitude on homosexuality would be representative of the human condition.

But that is wrong, there is not a continuum of sexual preference, or to be scientifically accurate, no evidence exists to substantiate your theoretical construct.

There are people who are not defective in their sexual orientation, and there are people who are defective in their sexuality.

There are people who are normal, and those who are deviant.

Agreed, but a huge number of homosexuals do anything but.
