Yes, you have articulated what I was thinking, but was too lazy to articulate. I get hacked off when I start thinking about Canada, and can't write straight. ALL of my personal dealings with Canadians has been negative in the extreme. I realize my own country, led by California and New England and the upper Midwest, is fast following your footsteps.
I should say that I have "met" a few canadians here at FR who I think would be an exception to the rule I have found in my pesonal dealings of Canadians being SOBs. I should also point out that my dealings have by and large been with Montrealers, and not those from the western provinces. It seems to me that Montreal is the closest thing today to Sodom and Gomorrah.
I read a good article on Canada the other day. I'll try to find it and link it.

Well since I only live an hour or so from the border and my granparents were from Quebec.. I meet lot's of them.
They always treat me with respect and are pretty easygoing folks.
I didn't have any plans on meeting you in person; Unless you know something I don't?

To be honest we mostly just call them "frogs"

I don't know anything you don't, but it's a small world, you know. :)
I have had nothing but extremely negative experiences with Montrealers and a few other Canadians. I can't help but judge the place by my own experiences, and by what I see in its own newspapers. The only other class of people in my life with whom I have had such consistently negative experiences are frat boys or former frat boys. Otherwise, I get along with everyone.

Great article! Thanks.

Maybe the good ones prefer to stay close to home? I can't even comprehend having problems with Canadians...Hmm
I was at a bike blessing up near the border just last month and all the Canadians stood and took off their hats when the Star Spangled Banner was sung. A good many of them sat back down on their bikes for Oh Canada. All the US folks stayed standing for both songs.
Was a good show of mutual respect from both sides if you ask me. Even if the French priest especially blessed "All of us that hadn't been killed yet"

Ya a bike blessing.
Everyone rides their bike into a field at a shrine , The priests say a little mass and then everyone lines up to have water thrown on their bike. There has to be something to it. I lost my clutch waiting to be blessed then it oddly healed itself afterwards and hasn't given me a problem since!

Interesting article.
That must be why Quebec wants to secede from Canada.
To: Rev. Lou Chenary
I would love it if Quebec seceded. Would the Canadians follow Lincoln's lead, and demolish and occupy Quebec, and call it a resoration of the union? Would be interesting to see what they would do.
Blessings on your bike, Rev,

Would like to see it myself. I don't think the Canadian Govt. has the nuts to do anything about it if they did secede.
I imagine a good chunk of NH and Maine would be more than happy to join them.
Haven't heard much from the Quebec Seccesion movement lately I think they are just waiting for the right time. The last vote was fairly close if I remember right.
To: jodorowsky
I guess when you oppress equaly you get a pass like... Cuba.
To: agrandis
Would be interesting to see what they would do. I tell you here and now, whatever the external shape of the response, it would involve large and ongoing cash transfers INTO the newly constituted Quebec from the ROC (Rest Of Canada).
To: Rev. Lou Chenary
The last vote was fairly close if I remember right. VERY close, 50/50.
We were treated to the amusing sight of the Separatiste leader Parizeau accepting defeat on TV, blaming "la vote ethnique" for the loss!
To: jodorowsky
We were treated to the amusing sight of the Separatiste leader Parizeau accepting defeat on TV, blaming "la vote ethnique" for the loss! Didn't he also blame his loss on "money", too? But I never understood that referendum. Even if he had received 99% of the vote, the question on the ballot had nothing to do with separation from the rest of Canada. Like, what was supposed to happen the day after they won, plan for another referendum to see if they really meant it?
To: Sally II
Good response. Not many people hate Canadians because there are not many of us, so it is hard for us to offend on a large scale, however, a small vocal minority seem to succeed.Unfortunately, we do have more than our fair share of noisy, useless, leftist, elitist horsesasses and being America's little brother has lulled some Canuckleheads into a sense of false security. In general,Canadians love America and Americans just about as much as we love our own country and it's people, we just don't like being taken for granted.
