Letter from Senator Ray Haynes

Dear Friends,
The liberal media are at it again. They are trying to break up the solid support of conservatives for Bill Simons candidacy for Governor. Recent press reports indicate a so-called Republican organization is distributing a questionnaire regarding Bill Simons position on a host of issues. Unfortunately, many of the questions were awkwardly written and mislead many readers of Bills true position on issues.
I talked to Bill Simon directly today. And, he reinforced my strong belief in his candidacy for Governor.
Bill Simon supported Proposition 22 and actively opposed AB 25. On marriage he told me directly, Many people are cynical about those who seek public office, believing that they will say anything to get elected. Unlike other candidates, I will not alter or shade my position based on what I think you want to hear or because it might help me get elected. In the primary campaign I stated that marriage is an institution that should remain between one man and one woman. And that's what I believe. Thats the statement he made to me in the primary and the same statement he made to a gay and lesbian organization last month.
Bill Simon is pro-life. No candidate for office in this country has come even close to contributing the kind of money Bill Simon does to Crisis Pregnancy Centers and Unwed Mother's homes. He is a solid supporter of the Second Amendment, and the entire Bill of Rights. Bill Simon opposes blanket amnesty for illegal aliens and supports strict boarder control. Bill Simon has pledged to not raise taxes as governor.
Lets not let the liberal media destroy our best chance to elect a no nonsense Conservative as Governor. Join me in supporting Bill Simon for Governor.
Sincerely,
Ray Haynes
Senator, 36th District

I just received this letter in my email. I think this should put to rest all the speculation about Bill Simon.
Simon is the conservative in the race. He can and will beat Gray Davis if we all stand by him. And, if we stand by him, where do you think his loyalties will be?
Go Simon!

Sadly, the presstitutes have scored one for Grayout on this one. So many so quick to jump ship. The good news is that votin' time is 2 months away and there is still time for the fair weather fliers and self-dubbed know all purists to pull their heads out, or at least give it a rest. Thanks for the flag. GoSimonGo...

I believe (and I may be wrong) that what the questionnaire said was confusing on this issue, but that he didn't support gay marriage (or civil unions which is basically the same thing) but that he thought there might be circumstances where "domestic partnership" (OK, bad phrase!) might be legally permissable, and cited him and his brother as an example, for legal reasons.
I don't believe for a minute that Bill Simon advocated civil unions for gays or gay marriage. I think that the answer was awkward and that it was mis-understood.
I think that Randy Thomasson and his non-organization only care about destroying conservatives, not about electing conservatives, and they completely misrepresented what Bill Simon said or didn't say. Simon never broke the pledge he signed in the primary, he has always believed that marriage is ONLY between a man and a woman, and he DOES NOT support gay marriage. He came out early on against AB25.
Anyway, that's my interpretation. I don't work for Simon, I'm just a volunteer with a family and job like most of us here on FR. I just feel strongly that conservatives tend to jump all over their own when they falter a little, and I think that's wrong.

It's always easy to believe the worst about someone. It's human nature. But we can and should forgive them when they come back and start boosting up Simon again.
Go Simon!

Please ask the Moderators to at least put this in Front Page news so everyone can see. I thought his campaign was going nuts with what I read this morning about his stance on same sex couples!
This needs widespread distribution after what was posted here today!
This is good news!

Feel free to ping your friends ... I don't know how to ask the moderators to move the location. Unless they're reading this now! :-)

Can you move this into Front Page or Extended News -- it needs widespread distribution because I was on a thread this morning with information that was 180 degrees from this and some people might miss it!
Thanks!
To: Sabertooth
This is sure different than the thread we were on this morning about Simon. Can you ping some folks to this thread to get the real truth?
Think I will go put a link on the other thread so they can come here and read the TRUTH!
To: Sidebar Moderator
I forgot -- can you put Bill Simon's name in the headline so people know this email pertains to Simon.
Being a pest I know! But this is really important!
Thanks!

I support Simon and will vote early and as often as I can for him. Seriously, win or lose, Simon will be good for California. If Simon wins, we can begin the reconstruction of California before we go bankrupt. If Simon loses, god forbid, We will see California go banrupt under the socialists. It will be a great object lesson. As for me, I have made myself Davis-proof short of outright land grabbing by the state government.

If Simon wins, we can begin the reconstruction of California before we go bankrupt. You are so right. Davis and the Democrats have driven this state to the verge of bankruptcy. I have often said that Davis should be PUT IN JAIL for GROSS MALFEASANCE. He, personally, is responsible -- in particular for the energy crisis. Worse, he can be bought. That's just plain wrong. The climate he has created is corrupt, and he's compelling others to corruption (though they should all know better!)
Simon will be a breath of fresh air, a necessity. It'll be hard for him because of the Democrat control of the Assembly and Senate and the grossly unfair redistricting plan, but over the next few years, maybe we can make some gains because we have someone sane at the helm!
Go Simon!
