Jesse Jackson Charities, O'Reilly Action Alert
RRDigest@aol.com ^ | 30 August 2001 | Redneck Republicans

Posted on 08/30/2002 1:24:49 PM PDT by Congressman Billybob

[This is exactly as I received it by e-mail, seconds ago, from the Editor of the Redneck Republican Digest, sent to an affiliation of good folks (including some independents like me, and a few lapsed Democrats) that I have known for some six years now. The source URL is my own, because the form demands one and there is none for this message. But I can vouch for its accuracy.]

I don't know if you guys are keeping up with O'Reilly. He complained about Ludicrous (a rap guy that gets pretty graphic I guess; let's just call him nasty to the core) being the chosen spokesperson for Pepsi. Said business should not be hiring anyone who is not a good role model - and took on a Pepsi spokesman on his radio program that he replayed for The Factor. He vented afterwards and kinda left it in the air if the public wanted to complain....the very next day Pepsi dropped the rap guy - seems they got flooded with mail complaints!!

That's it in a very loose nutshell.

LAST NIGHT he spoke with a guy from the Better Business Bureau - apparently they have a division that investigates charities and the guy was sharing the results of their Red Cross inspection. I could see it coming......!! sure enough, after the Red Cross was discussed, O'Reilly asked why they'd never looked into Jesse Jackson's charities. He gave some flimsy excuse (not enuf public concern, etc)....so WITHOUT the guy's permission or foreknowledge, I am sure, he puts up the BBB website and tells folks if they want to express their views, to let the guy know!

Knowing how you all love JJ, I include the website - Fire away! OReilly's last words to the guy were "Let me know how much mail you get." The guy was NOT smiling!! Give.org - http://www.give.org/inquire/index.asp Can y'all clean up my hastily thrown together explanation above and send this out, far and wide? Done as requested, to the best example of "far and wide" on the Not.

This should be of GREAT INTEREST to FReepers. The Better Business Bureau does a fine job, normally, of sorting out legitimate charities and businesses from fly-by-night ones. In the case of Jesse Jackson's organizations, it is not lack of public interest, but cowardice, that keeps them from looking into it.

Y'all should note first the immediate success of O'Reilly's call to action with respect to Pepsi's choice of a new spokesman. Then consider what good it would do if a legitimate organization like the BBB were to look into the usual matters -- how much money to charity as opposed to expenses and staff salaries -- apply in PUSH and other Jackson scams. Think on it, then get those e-mails cranking to the BBB.

This is a combination of the alternative media and the Internet being used to accomplish one of the legitimate purposes of the IRS, not to allow personal cash boxes to function as charities for the benefit of the founders and owners. Of course, the IRS has gotten the word to lay off Jesse Jackson. But we FReepers did NOT get the memo on that.

"Cry havoc! And let slip the dogs of war."

Done. But I could not give them any address information about Operation PUSH. Perhaps if someone knows this, it could be posted here.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

If there is a chance the BBB will consider legitimate complaints, perhaps you could help create a list of grievances for people to freep them with.

I know operation push doesn't equally recognize conservative and liberal organizations. BOND being one conservative organization they consistently ignore.

I also understand that to receive assistance from Jackson’s NFP business services you must first pay a high price for membership.

I believe they have also been caught using funds to support personal expenses.

The website posted was NOT the actual Better Business Bureau website - it was

http://www.give.org/

Attention everyone: Jesse does not run any charities that I specifically know of; he is the head of a number of non-profits which is a totally different scam that scalliwags take advantage of, which would make his money-laundering schemes beyond the interest of the BBB Wise Giving effort.
This effort is the best thing that O'Reilly has attempted to undertake. I well remember the IL AG or Tax Commisssioner mindlessly defending Jesse's history of non-compliance with financial disclosure regulations. The guy looked like an idiot but he took it like a man. That is criminal in my mind but no one can get anybody to do anything about it.
Just on the old GP (general principle) I email O'Reilly every couple of weeks chiding him for not doing more on the Rev, just to keep him on his toes.
