Who actually received the most votes in Florida's 2000 presidential election?

Al Gore. State election officials ultimately declared George W. Bush the winner by a margin of 537 votes, but during and after the election dispute, questions remained about the uncounted ballots of 175,010 voters, ballots that had been rejected by error-prone tabulating machines employed in many Florida counties. Confusion and conflict, much of it generated by partisan intrigue, prevented these ballots from being counted during the election controversy. However, in 2001 every uncounted ballot was carefully examined in a scientific study by the University of Chicago, which concluded that when all the votes were counted, more votes had been cast for Gore than for Bush.

I suppose you would prefer that Al "I'm an idiot" Gore were president and you would prefer that he have handled the 9/11 terrorist attacks?

Thank you, but I'll stick with President Bush.

Mike

There was no "26" button so she pressed "20" and "6" and said to me "that ought to do it"

So what would you have done? How did you get to 26? Just curious.

One of the loose threads rattling around my head (threads rattle if they weigh heavily on the mind) is the final disposition of the contested absentees. Did some of them, all of them, or none get into the final count?

My recollection is that not all of them had been incorporated into the various counties' certified results as of the date the hammer came down and the official statewide result was certified. My thanks to anybody who has that info on tap.

The Gore won author. Military service 1971-1972, Army rifleman, honorable discharge (huh,?)

Any questions?

None of them were ever recounted and included, but a federal district court did rule that they should be included. The ruling occured the same day as the Supreme Court ruling halting the statewide recounts so it became OBE (overcome by events).

Entertaining questions to ask a Floriduh voter......

When driving on a one way street, why does everyone else go the wrong way?

What weighs more, a witch or a duck?

If Janet Reno is driving her red truck with a drink in one hand and a 14 year old girl in the other, How long will it take her to get to Coral Gables assuming no headwind and a police escourt?

How many Budhist nuns does it take to launder $130,000 in individual campaign contributions?

If Al Gore is faced with a rice patty on three sides and must cross it, does he walk on the water or does he walk on the water?

If Al Gore has suckered it, picked it, hung it to dry, and killed his sister with it, what is it?

When tying your boot during a photo-op in Vietnam, it it best to hold your M-16 pointed under your chin, at your forehead, or at your platoon leader?

Too bad the poster has been banned. Seems do not delete has been deleted. It would have been fun to hear his whining.

He's been banned.

As he should have been.

I was in a chatroom where one chatter who uses the handle Dosset tried to tell everyone about it. Makes me wonder if that wasn't him

He pasted part of the opinion piece. No one paid any attention to him as everyone knows he is a liar. I copied the first part of the piece there and said it was not an article but an opinion which is a big difference as ar as I can see. Then added Rest of the letter here and gave the URL to the Tallahassee Democrat

He had dozens of chances to debate before his/her/its account was deleted. I don't think it was capable of engaging in an intellgent discussion.

If he was a 'rat he could only appeal to our "feelings" and that will never win any arguments around here. Damn us rational conservatives!

I still would like to know how many double punched ballots there were. These were the ones that were prepunched for algore and the voter actually voted for someone else.
