RE: 2002 Election Polling Update

Democrats Are Poised for Victory in 2002!

With two months to go until the 2002 fall elections, the nation's political climate has undergone substantial changes this summer. Virtually all of these changes improve the Democrats' prospects for success in this year's mid-term elections at all levels.

Here are just a few of the indicators pointing to big Democratic victories on November 5:

  • In two late August polls, Americans favor congressional Democrats over Republicans by 8 percentage points. Voters also say they trust Democrats more on handling the nation's major problems, 38-34 percent.

  • More than twice as many voters listed the economy than homeland security as their top issue. Voters also indicated that they trust Democrats to do a better job on the economy than Republicans by a 44-38 margin.

  • The president's job approval rating is down 25 percent from a year ago. Several recent national public polls also show Bush's re-elect number at 49 percent, not one point more than he received in the 2000 elections!

  • Most Americans say the country is headed in the wrong direction by a net negative, between 3 and 12 percent in July and August. A negative rating of this size typically reflects poorly on the party in the White House.

What's more, Democrats are winning on the issues. Voters are concerned with the economy, health care, and Social Security, and these are the issues that they trust Democrats to fix.

  • Republicans are clearly seen as party of big business, while the Democrats are seen on the side of working families. By a whopping 63 percent to 23 percent, voters say that Republicans in Congress care more about the interests of large corporations than about protecting the interests of working families.

  • Health care, prescription drugs and Social Security remain top election-year issues. Republicans' vulnerability as the party of corporate special interests has strong potential to affect the way voters evaluate the choice in this year's elections on other key issues, including prescription drugs and Social Security. Voters trust Democrats to do a better job of protecting Social Security than Republicans by a 17-point margin.

  • The Republican Medicare prescription drug plan gives HMOs too much power. The Democratic plan is written for seniors, while Republicans' plan is written by and for the drug companies and insurance industry.

  • Despite drops in the stock market, Republicans continue to push their risky Social Security privatization scheme. Democrats want to strengthen Social Security by protecting benefit cuts and stopping privatization efforts.

Democrats are better positioned today to win back the House, make gains in the Senate and capture a majority of governorships in November 2002. But we still need your help to win on November 5!

These idiots haven't a clue. They still can't figure out that their ideas are passe and will slowly be rejected by the people.

If war with Iraq starts, as I suspect, BEFORE the November elections, they can kiss any hopes of regaining congress goodbye.

When I get polled, I always say I prefer the democraps, too... it helps get them all excited and they waste their money, which is less money to be used for election stuff... heh heh heh

Heehee, you manage to get all the enemy propaganda. I applaud your intestinal fortitude. I fully expect torch to win in NJ but not due to his own 'merit', simply that the dead in Trenton, Newark and Camden will be voting multiple times. :(

BTW, what *exactly* does Cacique mean? *grin*

You are right, but I think conservatives need to make a strong case and not rely on common sense of Americans when it is tainted by the liberal press. For instance:

On the abortion issue: Stressing opposition to partial birth abortion and opposition to allowing strangers to take your daughter or grandaughter across the state line to have an abortion without your knowledge.

On the prescription drug issue: Stress the need for a PERMANENT prescription drug plan for those seniors who need it most. Under the Democrats' plan, the prescription drug plan would expire in 2010 and so poorly written, your tax dollars would go to even Bill Gates and Ross Perot for their prescription drugs.

On Social Security reform: If nothing is done, as the majority of Democrats would like, the Social Security system would go broke in 2038 according to the latest government statistics. By that year, it would cost an ADDITIONAL $330 billion in taxes just to pay benefits -- the equivalent of the entire defense budget for this year. It is a matter of basic arithmetic and basic planning to do something now.

On Tax Cuts: If, as most Democrats believe, finishing the Bush tax cut is such a bad idea, why not retroactively recind the Bush tax cut Americans already received? It's because the Bush tax cut is the only thing we had to stop the recession created by the previous administration.

Democrats are on the wrong side of these issues. Because the press is not doing it's job, it's our responsibility to explain to the American public why.

Cacique is the taino and Carib name for paramount chief. The Spaniards adopted the word to mean all paramount chiefs and it has become part of the Spanish language.

Much as I detest the thought of the Dems coming out on top, I do not have a good feeling about this election.

My point is that you can't win something with nothing. As a candidate -- YOU MUST RESPOND. You can't just dismiss their argument, no matter how wrong it is. The public needs to hear you take a stand. Silence is affirmation.

These idiots haven't a clue. They still can't figure out that their ideas are passe and will slowly be rejected by the people.

The low interest rate fired building/new home owner boom of the past 2 years signals a colossal shift in American demographics.

A great number of people own rather than rent.

Also about 55% of the population is invested in the stock market.

Fiscal conservatism has a way of turning people into social conservatives.

Disregarding the influx of immigrants, many of whom start businesses, the number of Democrats leaving that party will soon resemble the glide path that the stock averages rode down since 2000.

There's nothing new here in the 'Rat message. It's the same theme year after year, decade after decade: class envy. Thank the NEA these idiots failed creative writing.

Now if only some Pubs had the b@lls to tell the truth: 'Rat policies will make the US, and the world, more vulnerable to Islaminazi mass murder. Including "working families."

HOW CLUELESS CAN THEY GET?

Not one, ONE mention of the fact that the country is AT WAR...what else really matters?

My response to them would be that these aren't very encouraging numbers since they got their polling information by asking around the DNC offices. You think the pro Democrat numbers would be much higher, like over 100%.

FREEP the survey on their website (mentioned in the posted article).

It allows you to highlight which issues are important to you. It included the war against terrorism (domestic and abroad). It also allows you to flag some of the Rat issues as unimportant.

Then you get to paint a picture of how you see yourself politically.

I registered with an email account that I use to filter junkmail (software and newspaper registrations, etc.).

I can't wait to receive my first piece of online Rat-mail so I can ask to be removed from the list.

FREEP on.

Despite drops in the stock market, Republicans continue to push their risky Social Security privatization scheme. Democrats want to strengthen Social Security by protecting benefit cuts and stopping privatization efforts.

If the economy fails to grow for 45 years straight (working time of a person before retirement, give or take a few years), what makes these idiots think the tax base will be present for Social Security? If the economy fails to this extreme, the existence of the nation itself will be an issue, not Social Security.
