[history]
POWELL (AP) -- The Humane Society of Delaware County found a small dog reported missing by a resident of this Columbus suburb -- inside a 10-foot Burmese python.
Now police would like to find the owner of the snake.
Terry Doodan found the snake, with a telltale bulge in its middle, under the basement steps of her home while she was working on renovations.

Reminds me of an old Girl Scout song... Wow! If you are awakened sometime during the night by a ghost sporting a goatee and playing a banjo...You will have been visited by Burl Ives, who made a fortune singing that song
And if this ghost is accompanied by an evil looking man carrying a brief case....That will no doubt be the ghost of his lawyer.

Snakes swallowing dogs? That's nasty, but not the worse they can do. They can also kill people, and sometimes even swallow them (supposedly) like in
THIS picture.
Here is the "before" photo.
I held an Anaconda in Venezuela, and it seemed docile enough. I wouldn't sleep with one though.

About two years ago there were four guys playing golf down here in Florida, and one of them went missing. After searching all over for him, his friends finally called in the authorities to assist.
After some time they decided that he must have fallen prey to a large Florida crocodile (Not alligator)that inhabited the lake. So they caught it and killed it, and when it was cut open, there they found the bits and pieces of the missing man. The newspapers had a field day with the pics.

Yeah, it's pretty gross. It's been around on the Internet for a while. Some guy put up a web page
here. Parental discretion advised. There is a photo of a guy who was killed by a snake that failed to swallow him.

That snake is a midget. Back home we had Anacondas, they could swallow a small calf.
Wonder if anyone keeps them as pets up here. They grow about 70 feet long if I remember correctly.

A seventy foot long snake does not sound like a good pet.I'm assuming one of those snakes could take a human out like nothing. Are those the ones that drop out of trees when you least expect it?

My daughter and I were at a reptile show once. Many of the show's participants were letting the public hold and handle the snakes. Many of the snakes were docile but some came straight from the wild. At one booth, a little boy got bit while handling one of the snakes. The man and woman who owned the snake were not the least bit sympathetic. They said the little boy jerked his hand away which caused the snake to react and bite. The man and woman appeared as if it was all the boys fault and never apologised nor offered any assistance in getting help. Thank goodness it was non-venomous. The father of the boy had to go get help, which turned out to be a wet paper towel to the bite. The boy was screaming bloody murder. The entire scene took me by surprise. Especially the couple who owned the snake who never winced at the snake's behavior. After all, it wasn't the snake's fault. (sarcasm)

If this was a dog,the police would have locked the dog up for observation.I'm curious if this is the case with snakes too. Also, how come it's illegal to possess a wild animal like a deer or raccoon, but legal to own one of these varietys of big snakes?

Ahhhhhhhh.....an excellent story to start the morning. Don't we have a former president whose snake escapes every now and then? Or is it more appropriate to call it a worm?

Gee, thanks! I can't get it out of my head.
There was an old woman who swallowed a cow--
I don't know how she swallowed a cow!
She swallowed a cow to catch the goat.
She opened her mouth and it went down her throat.
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog--
Oh, what a hog to swallow a dog!
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat.
Imagine that! She swallowed a cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird--
How absurd to swallow a bird!
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and wriggled and jiggled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed a fly --
Perhaps she'll die!
There was an old woman who swallowed a horse...
She died, of course!

Why take an x-ray when you can just cut the darn thing open? A dead snake can't be given to Little Tommy Dashole as a present.
