September 24, 2002 Streisand, Manilow, Three Mo’ Tenors & Steve Harvey to Perform at Democratic Concert
Streisand To Give Rare Performance To Help Dems Take Back The House
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced today that Barbra Streisand has agreed to perform at a National Democratic Gala concert on September 29, 2002 to raise funds for Democratic efforts to take back the House this fall. In addition to Streisand, this unprecedented event will feature Barry Manilow, the Three Mo’ Tenors, David Foster and Steve Harvey.
"Voters across the country want a change after eight years of failed Republican leadership in Washington. We are honored to have some of the world’s best entertainers to lead the fight," said DCCC Chair Nita Lowey. "This is such an important election and Ms. Streisand’s decision to help us change the leadership in the House will help provide us with a much needed boost as we head into the home stretch."
The concert will be held at 7:30 PM on September 29th at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. Award-winning David Foster is producing the show. Tickets are $500 per individual and the DCCC anticipates raising an unprecedented sum that will benefit Democratic congressional candidates across the country.
House Democratic Leader Richard A. Gephardt, House Democratic Whip Nancy Pelosi, DCCC Chair Nita M. Lowey, and DCCC Chairman of the Board Charles Rangel are leading the Democratic Congressional Caucus in raising funds for the event.
Other artists who are supporting the event include: Jack Nicholson, Martin Sheen, Ben Affleck, Maya Angelou, Marilyn and Alan Bergman, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Michael Douglas, James Gandolfini, Wesley Snipes, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Goldie Hawn, Sally Field, Whoopi Goldberg, Christopher Reeve, Anjelica Huston, John Travolta, Kevin Spacey, and Annette Bening.
Ms. Streisand holds herself open to special appearances to raise funds for issues and charities that she supports.
Her The One Voice Concert in 1986 raised millions of dollars to help Democrats win seats in Congress.

Breakstone said that Baghdad Barb said some nasty things about President Bush and VP Cheney......she changed the words of the song The Way We Were while lauding the Toon and ridiculing Bush. Breakstone said that Streisand refused to allow any press to video tape her performance and that after she (Baghdad Barb) had a chance to review the tape made by her own people, she would maybe release a small portion to the press.

Neal Boortz describes Barbara on his site: Barbra Streisand is a fool. An idiot. She has a nice diaphragm and an adequate set of lungs which she can use to cause pieces of gristle in her throat to vibrate in such a way that sounds will resonate through the vast voids in her head to spring from her mouth with tonal qualities that some find somewhat pleasurable. She has apparently worked hard to develop her brain cells to the point that she can memorize lyrics to simple songs. Past that, nothing. Black hold dumb. Numbing ignorance coupled with an extremely tiring personality. If her voice should fail I would like to suggest that with a small amount of facial surgery, a bit of hair dye and a fake moustache, Babs could be Saddam's fourth double.
